Very sad day.
I had been on only a handful of car shows with Dhru, both of us presenting our AWD Falcons side by side. He was a knowledgeable passionate enthusiast always willing to talk with and help people and he spoke with respect and good humour. He was a true gentleman..... RIP our friend Dhru Watson. |

Rip Dhru, he was an inspiration to many, I got to meet Dhru on a couple of his trips to QLD and on one of his roadtrips, he was heading south into Narrabri and he had seen my rally mob heading north, he messaged to see if that was my mob and where I was and as I was still coming into Narrabri we met up, grabbed a feed before each of us continued on. I still owe him a beer. Well I'll have one for you mate.

Hi friends of Dhru,
Firstly, thanks James for posting Dhru's passing on the AFF site. We (Braunie ,Greg and I) have been trying to contact as many of Dhru's friends in whatever way we can think of (we couldnt get into his phone) and the AFF site reaches many of his Ford friends. If there are others who knew Dhru, please let them know. Personally, thank you all for being his mates and the sharing of knowledge and adventures that has happened between him and you. As you know, he enjoyed jumping into FAWD 01 and catching up all around the country. I have been friends with Dhru since we met in Yr 8 in college and dare I say, taught him to drive, I think he took that to another level!! When we have details on his funeral we will let you know. Dhru will be greatly missed but the memories he has left us will live forever R.I.P Dhruwal Cheers Rick |

Howdy everyone, I'm Dhru's Son, Erick.
I originally joined these forums a while back in order to look over his build logs. I may not appreciate Fords as much as he did but I appreciate good workmanship, and backyard engineering, and he always pushed the bar on both. Firstly, I'd like to extend my thanks from Genty (Dhru's Mum), Mandy (his Sister) and Mallory (his Daughter). They've all read your messages and they all feel good knowing he was part of such a great community. I echo their sentiments. Dad loved his family and friends only slightly more than he loved his Fords, and you all know how much he loved his Fords! Secondly, we (the Family) have just settled the arrangements for the funeral, it will be on the 24th July at 1:30PM ACST. It's open to the public, but will also have a livestream from the venue for those unable to attend, and for those who aren't available the video of the service will be available online for a while after, just in case. Lastly, we'd love any photos you have of Dhru. We've been going through his tens of thousands of photos the past week looking for pictures of him and found around 50 so far. Any you have of him, with him, or with him and his cars we'd love to see! I've made it easy to do via this Google Form. https://forms.gle/rSVHzz7rinfSdnon6 Thanks again everyone, This last week or so has been hard, but it's easier knowing he had so many good mates. Go the Falcon! -Erick. |

Dad's funeral will be held on the 24th of July at 1:30PM in the Heysen Chapel, Centennial Park, Goodwood Road, Pasadena.
There will be a simulcast of the event for those who can't attend. In lieu of floral or other tributes, we ask that a donation be made to the Hutt Street Centre. There will be envelopes at the chapel, but again, if you can't attend they have a donation link on their website. https://alfredjames.com.au/funeral-n...on-dhru-smith/ |
