Smile Mustang Joins Hertz Australia Range..

"Few rentals will be faster then Ford's Mustang GT, a V8-powered machine set to join Hertz' range as part of a long-term partnership between the brands.
The Mustang will be offered as part of Hertz' adrenaline collection.

The latest Mustang will be part of Hertz' Adrenaline Collection that features cars such as the Toyota 86, Renault Megane RS265 and Nissan Pulsar SSS "or similar".

It will feature in "GT Fastback" coupe form, with a 306kW 5.0-litre V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

The partnership between Ford and Hertz has five decades of history in the US, where the rental company first offered high-performance V8-powered Mustangs in 1965.

Finished in black with gold stripes, the original Shelby Mustang GT350-H was available for just $17 per day. American folklore suggests that plenty of amateur racers took advantage of the Coupe's 228kW performance to tackle drag strips and race tracks to make the most of their time with the car.

While Hertz isn't likely to encourage such behaviour, it will give Ford fans – and Mustang customers – a chance to take the in-demand model on an extended test drive."

Yeah I would be impressed if I booked a Mustang and turned up to have them say, "Sorry we don't have a Mustang available, but we have a nice Nissan Pulsar which is in the same category"

Pulsar SSS is not a performance car in any way, shape or form.

I believe a sss pulsar has a sr20det. A little bit of work in a car that size will make your boss work hard for that win..

Pulsars with SR20DE were well regarded 20 years ago. Current one is 1.6 turbo (MR16DDT) with 140kW . Possibly qualifies as a warmish hatch but very far from category leaders.

This happened to me last year when my girlfriend and I were in Hawaii. One of the top things I wanted to do was rent a Mustang on our last couple of days after running around in a Chevy Traverse the whole time (which was actually really nice). Anyway I made the reservation online the day before for a Mustang convertible, but when I returned the Chevy and went to pick up the Mustang, they only had a Chrysler Sebring in stock which is the 'or similar'.

There was no way I was driving that **** box so we went across the road to the next joint and got one straight away. It only had about 3000 miles on it too so pretty much brand spank.

Cruising up the highway along the coast with the roof down and music up in a brand new Mustang was such a great way to end the trip.

When you book online with hertz you have the option of booking the exact model, so no turning up and getting the fiesta instead of the mustang.

RS265 is a good bit of kit and well worth renting one for a weekend.

Could be worse, imagine ordering a Mustang and getting a lousy 86 instead? They state that the 86 is part of the "Adrenaline Collection". Was once offered a free upgrade to an 86, due to not having my desired XR6, and I would not accept an SV6 VF (prompting a busybody patriotic bystander to scowl at me 'what's wrong with a commodore mate??? Better than the Pos Ford.') Fortunately an Xr6 return pulled into the lot and I proudly drove off in a dirty XR6.

Did you get a V8? Went on a short notice trip to LAX last year and Hertz had none in their system, all booked out. Had to make do with a silver V6 drop top with 5000mi on the clock. Awesome cruiser overall, sufficient power , seemed slightly weaker than an FG xr6, but cornered much better, and ate up the interstate to San Fran with ease. Only thing that completely sucked was struggling to fit two medium-sized luggages in the rear seat. The rear boot was good for putting a small suitcase or two backpacks.

Nah I'm 23 so too young to handle it in their eyes.
I got pretty close though. They had 3 V8 coupes all lined up right at the front, a black, red and a blood orange one which looked absolutely amazing. I asked for the orange coupe at first because I saw the 5.0 badge walking past it and it was the best looking thing Ive ever seen, signed all the paper work and what not but when I gave her my license she realised I was under 25. Had the settle for a 6. Same colour as the one you got
It went better than a thought it would though and handled great. Did you have a play with the 0-30/0-60mph stop watch thing and the g force metre?

This. I've booked a GT86 a couple of times. The guys in returns at Sydney airport are great, threatened to send me away again to "do it properly" because there was still tread on the rears.

posted this is another thread a few weeks back but I've been lucky enough to hire 2 mustangs while in the US recently (the silver one a 4 cyl ecoboost and the white one a V8 GT)

Best rentals I've ever driven! The GT only had 400 miles on the clock so I was able to give it a proper break in... Few high speed runs through the vegas desert

Damn, you were lucky to spot 3 V8's in a row in those colours. Maybe I didn't shop around enough.

Yes, those Track Apps with GeForce Meter and Stop Watch were really cool, even if their a bit of a w**k. Noticed them while fumbling around the car in the 30 minute long queue to checkin at Disneyland Hotel .

The Mustang really has a nice road presence, looks fast standing still. The progressive turn indicators look really cool. Our lame Aus delivered taillights completely ruin the entire rear end IMO. The white taillights look like a blind man's eyes or sun-faded datsun taillights, and with only 2 out of the 3 bars in each cluster lighting up red, the rear end looks retarded.

Hertz don't have worked Pulsars. But looking at the specs that Old sr20det Pulsar engine has more power and torque than the 2016 SSS model.

I want to say I have never seen a new model SSS in the road, but I probably have and didn't realize since the look the same as every other Pulsar.

140kws, 230nm and 1330kgs and CVT. That just screams adrenaline range

It's good to see you can book a specific model online. I hope they don't charge the same daily rate for a Mustang as a SSS.

I would rather rent a Camry hybrid over a SSS
