Default BF GT 6sp auto

How many guys are having runs with the 6sp auto?

I took the GTP for it's maiden run on Thurs night at willowbank (13.3@105) but the auto kept going into limp mode when I tried to do a burnout.

Has anyone else had the same issue? It happened on the dyno too. Is there some sort of sensor that know that the rears are spinning whilst the fronts are stationary?

It's been tuned. Everything else is stock - right down to the crappy air filter.

Did you turn off traction control?

TC gets confused when you try to do a burnout.

Yep. I'm not a drag virgin. I recently sold a BA XR6T that ran 11.4.

Have done 50 plus passes with the 6 speed auto no problems.
(Brad) GT 8888 raced his 6 speed auto GT few months back, he didn't report any problems.
Ash raced one 12 months back, same deal no problems...

Have you raced it with no tune?

A bit stupid on my part, but no I didn't run the factory tune. I'll take it out again on the 17th and see if the same issue happens with the factory tune.

What's your best 60" Spoolman?

Is anyone runing a stally with the 6sp with any success yet?

What do you run for rear rubber?

Or are you smoking up the 19s?

What's the smallest (ie. cheapest) wheel/rubber combo that'll fit over the 4-pot rears?

The car's best 60 foot is 1.88.

Will be interesting to see how yours goes on the factory tune.

Use 17'' Mickey Tompson Drag Radials around $350 each, for rims get yourself a couple of cheap BA XR 17'' Alloys...
You could also use a toyo r1 18'' or nitto 18'' will cost more though.

I run the combo that spoolman mentions - BA XR 17's with MT ET Streets.

Has anyone tried one yet? I've my trans guy buying a new converter early next year and modifying it. The biggest hurdle I see is the access to the trans computer to stop any limp mode from occuring.

What exactly is occuring? Throttle closing?

There is a whole sequence of programming settings that need to be altered to stop the throttle from closing whilst attempting to stall up/doing a burnout.

Has that been done?

That's it. Basically shuts down and the D flashes.

Not sure what settings have or haven't been changed.

Unless the transmission protection for the Boss engine is completely different from the F6/T (which is unlikely) the transmission protection should be able to be reduced greatly or switched off.

I spent most of last week working on my tune to stop this from occuring in my F6. I wasn't able to get any significant boost and rpm when stalling the car up. Boost would stay stagnant at around 2 psi and 2100rpm. I am now able to get around 10psi boost @ 2500-2800rpm without the throttle closing.

Get your tuner to do some more work on it.

SO if you raise the rev limitor past stock the trans goes into limp mode.

i done an engine that we wanted to turn to 7400 rpm , i remember talking to ford programers to find out if there was a max rpm for the trans as i was having the same problem, once we got the rpm below the trans rpm cutout we had no further problems and just had to use a lower engine rpm as we could not overide the pcm in the transmission.
