Question AU engine

Gday i just wanted to find out what sort of work is needed for a freshen up of my 4.0 vct engine. It has 180k on the clock and im planning on going forced induction (most likely a raptor s/c) and i just wanted to make sure everything was in order before the big moment

I asked this question a while ago to a very reputable tuner. I had just over 200 000k's on it, and he said running under 10 lb of boost, there is not really any need. And if you blow it you can get a short motor from any wreckers for around $375.

if you're that worried, get a leak down test done. 180k with good service history is nothing for these motors. as above, get a short block from a wreckers and work that if you want major power, then get some work done to your current head and bolt it all in. that way you can still drive the car while it's being built

These motors can cop a flogging and with a good service history just keeping getting better. I have 251k on mine, and my car is quicker than my best mates S/C VX commodore, and has taken several Au XR8's. I never thought mine was actually all that flash, but apparently these motors get better with age.

Does anyone the sort of fuel economy returned from a s/c?? is it better when driven sensibly??

There have been some people who have had better than normal fuel economy when the car is driven like a granny. But as soon as you start to give it any, it just gulps fuel.

No garruntee that yours would be the same, but it is possible.

Thats what i thought, it probably does give better fuel economy but the foot tends to get heavy
