So the list of the 500 biggest polluters seems to be an Official Secret.

Surely any person wanting to make Australia "strong" should know which companies are being targeted by this tax and do our bit to help kill them (sarcasm people)

Qantas seem to be in conflict with the demands of the PM too, Qantas intends to pass on an estimated $115 million dollar cost from this CO2 tax directly onto the travellers. I thought the government said this wouldn't happen? I guess if Qantas wasn't already on the secret 500 list, they are now!

Swan now says it was Tony Abbott who coined the phrase "1000 polluters", seriously Swan has got to be amongst the greatest fibbers of all time...

24 hours young and the CO2 tax is already a shambles, goodness what where they thinking?

Why can't 10% of speed camera revenue go towards a carbon tax? Problem solved.

Because there isn't enough practical road length throughout Australia nor spare electric power capacity required for the gazillion camera's necessary to fund the CO2 tax.

BTW - Julia and Co. just admitted it will cost "a little more" that $4.3 billion to fund this puppy, this isn't funny it is slow motion train wreck, hope no one has gone off and spent thier promised compensation...

I see petrol is to be excluded from this tax, but diesel will be slugged with it.
ie. the fuel the tankers use to transport petrol... hmmm.

Boiling point in my house also.

But then there are the zealots who live in fairy world who think that this tax will do wonders for the environment, and that the people of the world will unite behind us and join us in the taxation madness. Then they can all hold hands and dance around the fire, (fueled by natural gas of course) chanting praise to the green gods, knowing that their brave and selfless acts have lowered the deadly CO2 levels that threaten to kill us all.

And add to these folk, the One Million brave Australian women, who are uniting to take the lead. Bless their hearts, uniting to save the planet, that us men are too powerless to save and too greedy to care about.

It sickens me to the pit of my gut at the manipulation of such ads, very clever though they are. Who would dare speak out against an initiative by women, particularly those trying to save the planet?

The MSM is embarking on a hoodwinking of epic proportions.

You and I, we see this tax for what it really is, a redistribution of wealth and homage to the Greens, that will do diddly squat to lower any temperature.

In fact it's at least raised the temperature in our homes! LOL!

This 10% of the tax going to the UN that Sezzy brought up...(AND promised by our government last bloody year, mind you!) is something that has had hardly ANY publicity?...
And it really grinds my gears!
Are people aware of this massive handout to God knows who?
I believe enough pressure has been applied for the "500" list to be released.
Let's hope the 10% "World order tax" is also brought out in the open?

Oh kevins going to be the minister for foreign affairs now, he did more of this position anyway even when PM. The 10% is a gift from the australian people to help kevin's chances, I bet when the money starts rolling to caesor (un) he will get his seat.

The latest pearl ...

Remember the floods in Queensland/Victoria and the devastation... how massive amounts of money was needed to rebuild... how the Government wasn't going to dip into our contingency fund... how we needed (and got) a Flood tax...

Well it would appear the same people who said it wasn't the correct thing to dip into our contingency fund to repair the country, now take the position that it is correct to use our contingency fund to close down the perfectly good and working Hazelwood power station, it would seem this mob miscalculated costings in the CO2 tax and realise they require a trifle amount of $3,000,000,000 ($3 billion) to close down Hazelwood and replace it with something else (with what is anyones guess)...

So for future reference, it is not good to use our contingency fund for "contingency purposes" but is perfectly ok to use our contingency fund to fix an un-costed political mistake!

With about 360 days still to go before the CO2 tax becomes law, and each new day revealing another undocumented/un-costed/unintended "feature", I can not think of a better way to grind Australia into oblivion.

Suggest you have a distorted view on this and that you are only looking at the dollars you see in your pocket in the short term.

Perhaps have a listen to Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber(sorry he is not as slick as Monckton) who has no apparent interest in wealth redistribution in this country and could make a comfortable living doing any number of jobs:

http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/view/799264, he is on from the 24 minute mark.

To put some things into perspective for you:

TONY MAHER: People shouldn't take this scare campaign seriously at all. The Treasury modelling shows that the coal industry will be doubled by 2050.

They are making a million per mine worker in profits, not revenue, profits. BHP made $10.6 billion for six months this year, double what it costs for repairing the Queensland floods and cyclone damage. This is not an industry that's in trouble

How do you measure 0.0004 degrees?
How do we know if a company is putting it's prices up just to make some more money, or legitimately passing on the costs?
Why is Mars experiencing an increase in global temperatures?
What do we do about the ever increasing population that is the ACTUAL cause for the increase in 'pollution', if it is actually doing anything anyway?
