Since you gotta buy the tyres for the 17inch option wheels for the new focus, i was just wondering if evryone put the recomended size of 205/50 and used the Goodyears?? My salesman has quoted me around 1100 for tyres but i dont know what they are, as long as they're not noisy im happy.

I'd say head over to your local tyre specialist... and get quotes from them. I shopped around for my tyres - was well worth it. Managed to get my local dealer to match the price!

You shouldn't be paying more than $1000 for good tyres for 17 inch rims, $1100 is OK but can be sharper. He'll probably be putting crap on there for that price and making good money. As a guide, I paid $220 per tyre for a set of sticky 16 inch Michelin Pilot Precedas. You should be looking around the $250 mark per tyre for 17 inch Dunlop GS-D3's, which I'd highly recommend. Ask him what tyre brand and type, if there's one thing that'll destroy the handling of the Focus it's crap tyres.

I just rang Bobjane myself and got a price for Yokohama's at $269 each, Pirelli's $475 and the Goodyear was $270....i just wanted a guide, but if i shop i'll get them cheaper.

Avoid Pirelli, overpriced and not worth it. $475 a tyre? Get bent.
Gs-D3 can be had for low 2 hundreds roughly, worth every single cent.

Came first in a Wheels Tyre Test (with Michelin Pilot Preceda a close second.)
They're Goodyears' latest sports tyre for sporty cars. Good Year Eagle F1 GS-D3, they're an aggressive looking directional tyre, very well rated by many people and probably my next tyre. Being an LS things are a little different. The 205/50-17's are an orphan size so there's only a couple of tyre options (literally) and consequently they are very expensive. Do yourself a favour and shop for 215/45-17's, they should be about $70 a tyre cheaper
btw, Ford quoted me $400 for a replacement tyre, trade price for a standard zetec tyre is about 250 - 260 |

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s are the pick in that size, I reckon... another option is the Goodyear Revspec RS-02

I'd go with the yokies, I've seen too many problems with dunlops & G/years (noise, separations....) Thats not a bad price, our RRP is $295 F&B (I can alway do better than that though)

I was wanting to trade up to Yokohama C-Drives but my local tyre dealear wanted $1100 for four new ones and was only willing to give me $40 for each of my 6K only Eagle NCT 5s (205/50 17). I think I'll wait until these are down to the steel before I'll upgrade. The NCT's aren't bad but I think I will want something a bit grippier and quieter.

I have no idea of cost, and have not driven them, but have read good things about BF Goodrich G-Force TA KDW for the Focus. Worth asking a dealer

NCT 5's were great in the wet but average in the dry. Not shabby, but not really anything worth writing home about. GS-D3's are supposed to be strong both wet and dry. My Michelins have failed to impress me in the wet, I won't be buying another set. Awesome in the dry and have worn well, quiet on the highway but just not up there in the wet laterally. Bf Goodrich from what I know those G-Force are damned near $300 a tyre.
