Default Parma,Chips, Salad!!

Where can a forum member go for a great parma these days??

One in each state, share your stories, i'll travel to the best one in Vic if people can recommend one.

Also, the beer needs to be the right temp as well.

Chris, you are sitting so close to heaven and you didnt know it. The Donnybrook pub mate. Great Parmi"s, hangin over the sides of the plate, steaks you cant jump over, and the beers ok too.

Hey mate - good friends of mine the polanski's used to own it - I recently had a parma at the Kalkallo, it was nice, I'll take the wife down to the donny.

So Donnybrook hotel, Donnybrook rd in Vic, also the Kalkallo just on the hume highway.

Hogans at wallan used to have a nice one, but its now a "boutique" pub, the parma just aint the same!!

parmistan hotel on Kings way sth Melb parma with bol sauce a killer and they have the huge sth melb market Dimmies good feed for the hungry lad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Biggest parma in SA is the mawson lakes hotel. They do a 1kg schnitzel with your choice of toppings. Its pain incarnate.

Best parma quality wise in SA, is the inglewood pub in the adelaide hills.

I heard and heard that the Palmerston was great, went and had it and it was enjoyable but I wouldn't call it the best I've had.

My experience of great parma - and believe you me, I go out at least once a week for a parma (like a surfer, always lookin for the best) - was the Windsor Castle in Prahran/South Yarra.

The Richmond Club hotel. 2 mins walk from the G. Best food before getting on the beer at the footy ever.

My mate runs it so I get them free aswell. Which makes them even better.

I was going to Suggest the Mawson lakes as well, my mate took us boys there when we were there this time last year, omigod, couldnt finish it lol!

I couldnt finish it either, however the bloke I work with finished the schnitzel, the chips underneath, and then mopped up the sauce with a piece of bread. He's not human.

In SA I have heard rumors that you can get a monster Parmi at the Earl of Leicester in Parkside. Supposedly the chips come on a separate plate due to the parmi being to large.

Mmmmmm, Schnity, Chips & Gravy mmmmmm. All in a roll thanks ;)

Best choice in Australia is at the Canberra Tradesmen's Union Club in Dickson. It boasts the largest range of Schnitzels in the Southern Hemishpere. In their heyday, they had over 30 sauces on offer. My fav, curry schnitzel & chips - hold the salad, what do I look like??

Townsville St Takeaway in Fyshwick does a mean one too. My staple lunch for longer than it should have been was a Schnitzel in a Roll with Gravy & Chips. It cost $5 and once back at work I would crack her open, fill up the Schnity Roll with Chips and eat myself into a lather. I didn't even have to say who it was calling in the order, they just knew when I said hello to get the Schnity's cooking.

It's been ~3yrs since I stopped buying there but I am ashamed to admit that I still know their number off by heart :(

edit - BTW, anyone in Canberra can attest to the temp on the taps. The Tradies do some serious qty's over the bar.

i find the parma at the skinny dog in kew rather good its big enough and good quality, and it takes 5mins to arrive after you order.

I've had schnitzel at the Earl of Leicester before, and yes they are huge. They even offer two sizes - I went for the smaller one, and was pretty full by the end of that. Not a big fan of parmi though, I usually go for the mushroom gravy instead of parmi sauce.

Closer to you Chris the Magpie & Stump at Wandong had a ripper parma last time I was there (couple of years ago)

Diamond Creek pub also pretty good, last time I was there also the parma was bigger than the plate! More size than quality...but it's still good to polish off a massive feed

Chicken parmigana. Crumbed chicken with a sauce (normally tomato) covered in cheese...sometimes with ham on top too depending on where you get one from.
