Default Charges dropped Chaser's APEC stunt

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...234710910.html

All charges have been dropped against the Chaser team for beaching the "secure zone" at the APEC sumit.

This now begs the question, "how are they going to top this one"?

this pretty well proves a point on 2 fronts:
1.....millions of dollars spent on security is worthwhile, if not useless
2.....media can do whatever they damn well please to produce "entertainment" for the unwashed heards that troll on trash TV

The stunt was irresponsible. They are bloody lucky some yank didn't shoot them.

All that has happened in that the security troops have been embarrassed and next time will be even more a nal retentive and make life impossible for local people who just happen to live/work where these junkets are held.

I have an idea. Lets raid the ABC studios with blank fire automatic rifles and pretend to execute everybody for crimes against humanity.

Just a joke of course. Blank ammo and blunt bayonets.....

REALLY REALLY FUNNY don't you think.......

Actually could you do that with live ammo on the big brother set?

Good to hear the police were disciplined for letting a carload of people get access to the front of the building where world leaders were situated... (not)

After questioned what there next stunt will be Chas replied it was pretty easy to make a motorcade with limos, but it might be a bit harder to get a Pope mobile replica for the World Youth Games.

i actually support what they did.... its better off for a bunch of idiots to break a security weakness for a laugh as to an actual terrorist group working it out 1st. after they pulled the stunt it then made security aware of the weakness

I agree GuNmEtAL GLi.
I also understand the importance of different countries working together for a common goal, such as APEC.
But part of me enjoyed APEC's self importance being taken down a few notches by this stunt.

So when is a member of the Royal Family visiting next? :evil3:

As for the hysteria that someone from the Chaser could have actually been shot during this stunt

The worst thing that could have happened to the Chaser team is no one paying any attention to them.

The officer that let them through the second checkpoint was doing as he was told.
They had orders not to stop motorcades.

But you'll be pleased to know he has since left the police force for a better paying job in QLD, and to be closer to his kids.

it was a good idea to only stop the terrorist looking vehicles, and let the motorcades through without hesitation. oh wait............. what if the terrorists came without big signs and were trying to be inconspicuous!!

someone dropped the ball with that great idea

they could have inspired a new reality show! the winner is the one that is the first to be shot by doing something really stupid. multi fatalites would score extra points

They probably thought it would be appropriate to waste millions of dollars of tax payers dollars investigating it first. :togo:
