Hi all
Have had a proposition offered to me but am a bit stuck as to what I would choose. You are forced to choose a used car with the following restrictions: - must be 2009 model car or newer - must be around $10,000 - must be bought through a dealer Now you could imagine what cars would come up in that range if you do a quick search on Carsales - Hyundai Getz - Suzuki Alto - Kia Rio - Holden Barina - Nissan Micra Those are the main cars that come up. What would you choose?

Tiida is unloved as its fairly bland, but they are cheap enough to be considered a worthwhile purchase.

getz is good buying at this price-heeaaappps to choose, also look out for an I20, the sucessor to getz with better styling.......

I'd rather buy a stolen and recovered or flood damaged GT from a dealer. Or keep the 10 grand and walk/ foot falcon it.

Suzuki Swift...ton of fun to drive, plenty of mods avaialble.
Possibly Getz...not a bad drive for a cheap car. Alto is a dark horse...we bought one brand new for our youngest son as he was an apprentice and couldn't afford to run much bigger. It was surprising...good five speed manual, very willing little three cylinder engine that loves to rev, air conditioning, comfy seats, handles the highways with ease surprisingly, and costs bugger all to run. |

I watched two Golfs going at it up the first hill on the BV Hwy yesterday, rolling start out of the road works at 40kmph then two lanes to 100kmph.
The petrol was following the diesel initially, whilst pouring black smoke the 'truck' did pretty well with the petrol sucker pulling by near the end of the passing lane. Maybe a 'Chaff cutter' is worthy of consideration.

Surely there's 2009 Falcons out there somewhere for around the $10,000 ?
That is a horrible decision to have to make if that selection are the only cars on the list. One question why is 2009 the cut off point ?? |

Yes unfortunately I couldn't see myself in any of those cars except if I found the odd WS Fiesta.
Funnily enough if I was allowed to stretch to another one to two thousand bucks I could start looking at Corollas, Camrys, VE Commodores and FG Falcons with high kms. Will have to keep considering options. @ mechanic, criteria on the loan states used cars must be no older than 5 years. @ Raptor, I would happily plod around in one of those, thanks for that.
