Door trim arm rests in AU

i read in the contemporary falcons thread that some au's had a 'pocket' under the armrest in their AU's did all of them have this? will my AUIII have one?

i think i broke mine anyways trying to force it open...lol id love it if i had one

so do they have them or only some models?

I think they were only on the LTD/TL50, those premium models. I'm not entirely sure.

bloody ford too lazy and poor to put REAR power windows and arm rest bins.... this whole scungy thing has too stop soon

I read that as well FALCONSR. I ran out to my car and was trying to rip up my armrests. Now I know why I dont have any..

If the low series models had all of these extras, they wouldn't sell any high series models. Hey...you get what you pay for.

Ive got them and will swap them for standard ones with woodgrain door spears as i've never put anything in them. The only catch is my woodgrain spears are missing

i just had a look on my mums AU2 Fairlane Ghia/sportsman, and no such luck. they kinda moved a bit. but seem stuck to the trim. how do they open?

I saw someone selling some front door trims on ebay, apparently out of a fairmont ghia, and it had the pockets under the armrest bits. My Fairmont doesn't, nor does my new AUIII XR6 leather trim. It'd be nice though.

What happened to the spears, mate? And do you know why you got the folding arm rests? Almost sounds like it was a random assembly line thing!

To open they just lift up and there is plenty of room for your phone coins wallet etc... The spears were sacraficed when my brother and l made a mould from them to do carbon fibre ones. Then time got the better of me to finish them so now i've got half finished carbon ones and wrecked woodgrain ones. Dont know why or what models got them but i'll post some pics for everyone.

Fairmont Ghia, T1/T2 TS50 and TL50, T3 TL50 are the only cars I know of that had the pockets / bins under the front arm rest.

Not so sure about TL50 Jude. I have a set of TL50 door trims, and mine don't open. Well I don't think they do.

Not sure what model TL mine are off though.

I've got an S3 F/Ghia and there doesn't seem to be bins/lids in my arm rests.

I'll get the chain saw out tomorrow to confirm but unless there's a trick to opening them I'd say definitely not.

i pulled out the powerwindow switch thing on my mums car, and it feels like there is a little plastic 'bin' under the arm rest. but it feels as if the leather is wrapped around the top of it, so it wont open?

anybody got any piccies of this?

I managed to get it all apart a while ago but didn't take any photos. If you are prepared to cut into the plastic of the door then you can make the bin by removing the "lid" but it isn't properly shaped as a bin. If you put something in it, it'll slide around inside the door, from memory. I also felt that if did make it hinged that it would be loose and wouldn't sit properly and end up crap.

i have them MWAHAHA!! my car is a 1999 AU series 1 fairlane ghia

i was cruisin along one night and bumped it and i was like uh oh.. i broke'd it..

then i gave it a prod and pull and was like OMG!! that is awesome!! my own drug stash compartment!(no i do not do drugs nor sell them.id be driving somthing a lil more classy than a fairlane if i did

) LOL no wonder fairlanes are driven by pimps:P

i put my headunit remote in it
