Harris

Try to drop the continual ......... please, its making it very hard to read your post.

Also, keep your sentences to one line rather than spread over 3.

Cheers

Ok. Was just thinking that it could have benn the reason you may lose your licence. 5 points on P's and a no p plate display is an automatic 3 points generally.

If you take it to court it will probably cost you alot more than just paying the fines.
Most sports exhausts you have fitted (off the shelf ones anyway) will be legal and pass the noise test.Do you have your resonator removed?

thats bad luck. Ive never been pulled over in my car. Ive been through booze busses and drug busses and nothing. Both of my main headlight globes blew out last week and ive been driving with parking lights and fog lights since then till I get $100 to get new globes.

Lol, very intriguing as to how the loss of licence came about (unregistered maybe?) but that's the last i'll say on the matter.

And again - i dont mean to be rude but i would have grabbed the tape measure to check the suspension height after seeing your car. I recently got defected riding on superlows myself. Officer showed me the book that has the minimum height, we checked the height of my vehicle and it came under. I was nicked fair and square.

Unfortunately it's all part of the modified car "game". For the last 18 months ive been driving a supercharged V8 that was slammed on its guts. All it took was one police officer to measure it up against the rules... Now its a standard engine with standard suspension - i've given up on the game...

But damn - that is a hot looking AU.

It depends on the relevant ADR for the year of your car. I thought it was 90db for older ADRs and 85db for the newer ones.

bummer losing ur licence isnt kool i lost mine for 6 mths though my own stupid fault
i find it amazing that they said that they would let you off if there wasnt so many ppl around, it seems like they are just slapping what ever they think is good or what ever they feel is appropriate i know they have a job but god. I also agree with BJMXR i think an unroadworthy 120 datsun is gonna cause more grief then a foglight that isnt hooked up of and exhaust that is slighty to loud (i know there is a law)

Just a query, in the second photo you posted, is that a microphone to test the decibels of your exhaust?. If so, would'nt the noise of cars etc in the background have some effect on the actual reading?. As we all know the Princes Hwy is a major arterial route to Melbourne, so how would they expect to get an accurate reading?. Food for thought.

these officers and stuff giving you grief - you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time - its their job (normal police should have nothing to do with cars/roads imo , should be just vic rd's handling it !)- they have a monthly fine quota to fill and it's all about revenue raising ! ... Gee i've even gotten canary's in the past for 'so called' bald tyres - when my tyres had like 85 to 90 % tred on them ! , just a cop in a bad mood cos he couldn't find anything wrong with the car and was looking to lay a fine. And roadworthy or not , once the cop has his word then its your word against theirs ! , it's basically 'pay up and shut up' as far as they are concerned.

On page two of todays heraldsun they mentioned 1 in 5 cars are unroadworthy. I think they are talking about your misfortune of being caught up in the 1500 drivers they pulled over around caulfield.
Instead of picking on some very minor defects on some cars I think there is something else behind this type of blitz like the Vic goverment wanting to bring in annual roadworthies . Another added problem & cost to the suffering motorist.
By the way my younger brother has lost his licence for 22 years & has spent 1 month in Grafton & 5 months in Glenn Innis N.S.W correctional centre's for drink driving offences. So don't feel two bad if it's a month or 2 without a licence.

thanx for that mate ..... since i have pics im sure i can do something about this, because the epa officer said to me that i might get a fine in the mail aswell because my car is too loud and alot over the legal limit of 90 DB.
i'm yet to get a mail from epa and then i have to go and get it cleared ....
diffinetly going back to stock ........ the exaust on it right now isnt a proper sports exaust ........................

Wait till you see the fine from the EPA!!! It will arrive, from memory mine was 250 or 350...When i got done they slapped a whopping big yellow defect sticker on the windscreen aswell. Then i had a month or something to then go and get it re-tested at the epa place.
If you fit a redback exhaust(or similar off the shelf system) 2.5' mandrel bent with the resonator you wont be over the legal limit!!! Tell the exhaust shop you have to be under the dbs.Beats going full stock again...

I don't think the road noise on the microphone would make any difference, it'd be a directional mic and the exhaust directly in front of it would drown out any other road noise (unless the road noise was 110dB )

Bad luck dude it's a real shame

Lol , thats nothing ! . Back in my p plate days when i had the v8 in my car with no pollutin gear rigged up , and a big dirty 650cfm holly on the engine and had it registered as a 6 cylinder ! ... The cops threw the book at me ..lol . Cops put me into the EPA , I got a letter from the EPA in laverton asking me to bring my car in within 3 days of me getting the letter from them, it stated that if my car had no pollution gear etc etc as stated by the police then i would be up for a $10,000 fine ! :O .. holy yikes ! - well it came to the point that i had my licence suspended for a year over that incindent ( plus speeding ontop of it all ) .. so in the end i just de-registered my car before it was due at the EPA , i got a call from the EPA on the day it was due and i told them i de-registered the car ( as i was gonna work on it over that year with no licence anyway then re-register it ) ... had them buggered , nothing they could do as the car was no longer registered or on the road .. stuck it up them ..lol .
