Pedders problem.

They mostly use cheap Chinese rubbish at highly inflated prices.

Get quality branded bearings and all problems will be gone.

So Pedders get cheap Chinese bearing now as well do they? Besides they have every right to make a quid - same as you and me.

Thanks mate. I've spent at least $5000 with them in the past 2 years and have been back a number of times to have bits and pieces replaced under warranty. Some of there gear must be ok because the car drives like a brand new one. But there bushes......

It is a Pedders problem, I don't know why you wouldn't have gone for OEM Ford items; the cost difference between the two is negligible.

Not sure what you're saying with this post?

That its ok Pedders use inferior bearings which only last 6 months because they need to make money too?

I've never used their bearings but Pedders foam cell 4x4 shocks are pretty good, we've done two lift kits now with their full setup and they've been great. The 4x4 stuff seems pretty good.

Never tried their 4x4 shocks but can't say that I would ever try them, I don't like their business practices, I have used their springs and shocks in a car years ago and they were horrible, ended up pulling the lot out and turfing it.

No. I am saying I would not go bagging someones product without giving them the right of reply. They are sponsors here as well. However there are many variables with wheel bearings, and quality is only one. Adjustment, lubrication are another two. Show me one manufacturer that does not make a inferrior product once in a while. Is this a bad batch? I prefer to give them the benifit of the doubt first. Besides, how doe we know they are of Chinese origin?

In this instance, we don't know anything about the bearings besides that they failed. What needs to happen now is the OP needs to get the car back to the Pedders shop that fitted them and get them replaced under warranty.

Bill.
We dont know the bearings are at fault. If I bought from a name like Pedders, then I would assume I was getting quality. Their workmanship at some branches may be questionable though, as with all garages.

Hello,

You have answered your own question. Go to a bearing shop and buy a brand name bearing / or genuine. I remember an Ex Pedder's franchise owner had a bit to say many years ago, not an organization I would deal with even if only part of it was true.

But you only assume they are inferior. Are you a professiobal in this area or even a metallurgist? Like I said before, no need to go off half cocked with no facts.

My Pedders mechanic never has a problem making good on parts and labour. He does a good job. As for the Pedders parts.. Well it's not my profession. As I said before. The car drives like new. And if I have a problem. I go back and if it's something under warranty it's fixed no
Charge.

Sounds like you have a pretty good relationship with your local Pedders guy. I would start by taking your car back to them and offer them a chance to investigate / rectify first. Then take it from there.

Would you trust their $28 check and have all the parts replaced that they state are 'worn'?

I would challenge him to do this, take car to Pedders for the check (I will even pay for it) and he must get everything replaced that they find 'wrong' with the car

Good luck with that one 2-3K bill for replacing perfectly good parts here we come

As a point of reference, I've had some $28 checks done in the past and most of those found no issues, one time they found a leaky shock and on another a shagged sway bar bush.

Hello,

It may depend on whether it is a franchise and also the manager. I remember seeing 2 quotes done the same day on different Cars with no issues. Both had the same faults and listed parts that dont exist for one of the Cars. There may be some great outlets, but I have heard too much from different sources to go there myself.

Whats that comment got to do with the Op? But it does come down to individual choice. I may think I have enough nouce to know whats up with my car, others may prefer a different opinion. I have read heaps if threads on here about rattles in cars that originate in worn suspension parts. Which illustrates that sometimes even knowalls may not really know because they cannot locate the cause. Now if they took it to a garage and said 'fix it' or I will complain - what are they to do?? Well I will tell you because you asked. They would suggest that you replace all the suspect parts they feel may be contributing to your problem , just to cover themselves. So would I have a $28 check done? Yes, because then I make a decision about their recommendation.
