Default help!!!!!

Hi guys this is my first post on here and I'm the new owner of a au falcon ute xl 2001 .
I got the ute with a transmission fault!!!!! (But it was cheap).
So first question: what could be the problem?????
It drives but clunks and jumps in and out of gear and slips...
Ive topped the transmission oil up but that didn't work so apart from new box what else could it be???? Any advise would be great guys witty

I assume it is an auto?

Only option is the gearbox is at fault.
Try changing the filter and fluid, then flush as per this guide and run it for a bit.

My new AU was doing the same and I'm on the second flush/run and it's calmed down a lot.

Also ensure you've got the right fluid. DO NOT put dex 3 in it.

Cheers

must ask why no dex 3, i have penrite dex 3 in mine, and a local trans specialist i worked at for awhile only used dex 3 penrite in the btr's.

I'm going off what I've read in these forums, where dex 3 effectively turns to sludge in these gearboxes.
Judging by what came out of my auto i would believe it. It was far from pretty.

TQ-95 is correct fluid

Yes TQ 95 or equivalents only see http://www.oilman.com.au/wp-content/...ison-Chart.pdf for equivalents. There is a conversion additive that allows Dexron III to be used see http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-179/LUBE...ersion+Formula but as TQ95 is readily available its is better to use that.

LUBEGARD BTR ATF Conversion Formula contains extreme pressure additives that protect against premature failure of planetary gears, and LXE® (Liquid Wax Ester) Technology improves the thermal and oxidative stability of the ATF it also improves the shift quality and increases the life of the automatic transmission.
