Unfortunately, today I had to attend the funeral of a mate from my uni racing team. A top bloke in every way imaginable but especially a wickedly smart engineer. As a second year student he designed the suspension for our 2009 race car in a little over 2 weeks last year. He also did a marvellous job designing the suspension for this years car which is soon to go into production.
Two of the people attending his funeral were linked closely to his role on the team- the 2009 team leader, now working for Ford and Pat Clarke, a highly respected engineer currently working for Hyundai Australia. These two gents turned up in cars not yet released in the Australian Market- the new Ford Fiesta (Didn't sight it, was just told about him driving it) and the Hyundai i45. I guess driving brand new cars around the country (To Canberra from Melbourne and Sydney respectively) is one of the perks of working for car companies as engineers. The Hyundai actually looked really smart from the back but it's almost as ugly as a Ssanyong Stavic or similar when looking at the front I rekon. Still FWD of course. |

I saw an i45 on the the road the other day near Alexandria ... and hell it was a nice looking bit of kit from the back (was stopped in traffic behind it) ... I am guessing it's the Grandeur replacement (which seemed a decent vehicle as well)

Firstly, my thoughts are with you regarding the death or your mate fella.
I bought a new Fiesta, last year? You must mean the Thai Spec model, I'm assuming? I wonder if this was the 6-Speed PowerShift auto version. Could have been a sedan version too I suppose. Can't wait to drive the new auto Fiesta, sounds like a ripper!

Im surprised they let them dirve around with them! Were they all camo'd up?
I heard about Craig on the Faculty site. He sounded like a pretty smart bloke, he was a director of the program wasn't he? I've been having a perv on the car during my labs. Looking pretty good, you blokes do some great work. Hopefully the car goes on to win this year as a legacy. And if you haven't already named this years car, it would be one idea.
