Toyota has more than 14,500 combined sales in the top ten, that shows real strength in the market.

Everest still over 1,000 sales is a great sign for when we eventually get new products in the volumes needed to fill orders…

Perhaps it’s time for Ford Australia to go cap in hand to Ford America and ask for RHD versions of Bronco Sport and Maverick pickup. Ford Europe is just such a gigantic fail in supply, has been that way for years…

"The Kia Stinger has posted its second month in a row of record monthly sales in Australia – and its third record result in five months.

Official figures released today show Kia reported 428 examples of the Stinger as sold in May 2022 – a whopping increase of 162 per cent compared to the same month last year – after a large shipment of vehicles ordered last year arrived last month.

It was the second record month in a row for the Kia Stinger, which has been on sale in Australia since 2017.


The Kia Stinger also posted a sales record in February 2022, but the monthly sales figures just keep climbing.

While there were reports last year the Kia Stinger was due to be phased out in certain markets this year, it remains on sale locally for the foreseeable future.

-As well as finding appeal among private buyers looking for rear-wheel-drive performance sedans to replace Holden Commodore V8s and Ford Falcon V8s and turbo sixes, the Kia Stinger has earned its stripes on police fleets in Queensland, West Australia and the Northern Territory.


However, it remains unclear if the Kia Stinger will be added to other police fleets across Australia given the limited life-cycle remaining for the current vehicle.

Most Kia cars have a model cycle of five years, which means the Kia Stinger is approaching the end of its life – even if it has been extended for some markets such as Australia.


Kia Australia says it is “business as usual” for the Kia Stinger and there are no plans to withdraw it from sale in the near future.


However government fleets – such as police – need to weigh up how long any specialist equipment developed for a particular car would remain current.

Nevertheless, the latest sales figures are a resounding endorsement of the Kia Stinger among enthusiast buyers who have realised it remains one of the few performance sedans in the sub-$100,000 price range."

Everest just keeps increasing year over year. It's increased every year since it was introduced. Just need to get on top of the chip supply. Apparently second half of the year and it should be taps turned on full, no restraints. Just need the chinese to stop ridiculous covid zero lockdowns as well.

Something has to be done about Ford Europe's supply "problems", for example they sold over 3000 Kuga PHEV's in December 2021 but couldn't send any to Australia all through 2021.

Toyota doesn’t seem to have a problem supplying and selling 22,000 vehicles in Australia.
If that isn’t rubbing Ford’s nose in it, nothing will……it should be them with 6,000 Ranger /2,000 Everest sales

With a V6 diesel and higher towing capacity the higher spec models might pull in some former Jeep GC buyers and sway some Prado buyers..so with a steady climb I could see it happening.

Only if they can secure extra supply / allocation.



They could potentially have been selling more UA2's if they had stock of them the last 12 - 18 months.



The Sports model really turned it around for Everest.

Fingers crossed that Everest is about to change gears again and ratchet up sales another notch….
If Everest can hit that sort of T6 Tanger nerve with buyers, I guess anything is possible…

Another factor will be the production split between Everest and Ranger. I’m pretty sure thailand now has extra production capacity for new gen though. Possibly an extra shift?

But that capacity will also depend on chip supply, which is supposed to be less of a problem moving forward after the 2nd quarter. But who knows.

PX Ranger has been the best in its class since its introduction in 2011 and still is, yet it still took a while to propagate amongst the customers buying those things.

I feel like the Ranger is the private sale champion, the Hilux is moving big numbers for things like mining industry/rental fleets et al.

What’s more impressive is all that happened while PX slowly aged, was refreshed and prices increased.
There’s a real internal strength to those sales numbers, repeat customer for sure but they like what they like.

I think your right. The new WL will be Petrol/Hybrid only with no Diesel option anymore, and the V6 Diesel was one of the main drawcards for most people over the Aenemic 4 pot Diesels in the direct competition (Prado, Everest, etc).

Now with Everest having that V6 Diesel Option, with similar power Torque Levels (WK2 GC Diesel was 184kw/570NM) and the GC going upmarket in Price/target I wouldnt be surprised if we see some Ex GC buyers...

Yep. I think the new GC also dropped a fair bit in towing capacity and it's petrol V6 is only just OK based on local roadtest reviews I've read...and that's before you add a trailer/caravan.....maybe the twin turbo I6 suggested for WL GC will change that, well performance definitely..and credit where it's due, the new GC interior is fantastic imho.

Question, does Thailand build 2.3 EB versions of Ranger and Everest for China?
I know this engine was never planned for Australia but is there a chance of revisiting this option
as perhaps an affordable option on say Sports or 2WD models to add some spice to the mix?

Fuel prices would probably kill any hope but just a thought for fleshing out the range without
stealing its own diesel sales…..

Pretty sure the chinese ones are actually built in china.

More than likely you will see a 2.3 on the rumoured phev though. It would be the obvious choice as a hybrid version for ranger and bronco as the US version already use the 2.3.

Being hybrid also stops the problem of petrol fuel costs.

Pretty sure the chinese ones are actually built in china.

More than likely you will see a 2.3 on the rumoured phev though. It would be the obvious choice as a hybrid version for ranger and bronco as the US version already use the 2.3.

Being hybrid also stops the problem of petrol fuel costs.
Pretty sure that Thailand was supplying China with 2.0 EBs then 2.3 EBs before local production began there…
Important point is that the engineering for 2.3 EB is done on Rangers/Everest even if not in RHD
Power boost hybrid is probably more important than a PHEV as Europe rates them only in charge sustain mode….
They believe most people won’t bother recharging batteries and just drive as a hybrid…
