Default Advice / Opinions on non-Ford UK options

Hi all,

I've been living in the UK for over 2 years now and looking to finally take the plunge and getting a car here. Now fortunately we are spoilt for choice, so I'm after some opinions and advice from people who may have owned or driven one of these. Here are the cars I have short listed.

2006 Audi RS4 - ~£23,000
2005 BMW M5 (V10) - ~£25,000
2007 BMW 335i - ~£18,000
2002 Porsche 911 C4S - ~£25,000

Any constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Some nice choices there, have you considered the new shape XK Jags they go for that kind of price.
Of the ones on your list I guess it would be a toss up between the RS4 or the porker, the new shape bimmers really just don't squeal my wheels..
Or you could go for an aston....

Jags have never really done it for me. And the Astons are nice, but the quick ones are way beyond my budget. I'm very keen on the RS4.

RS4 would be a nice little rocket. But the M5 for me.

Make sure you keep it for the appropriate time so you can sell it back here

335i or M5.....geez, both extraordinary value!!

I'd go the M5, with the 335i as a fallback if you want to keep more cash in the bank.

Have you considered a Maserati.
You can pick up a nice example in the price range that you have indicated above in your poll.

I will be looking at one of these in the not to distant future (and bring it back home when I come back................ one day).

The Maserati 4200 looks like good value. Do they sell them in Oz?

I need to keep in mind the saleability back in Oz.

Yes they do but they are worth very little.

Stick with BMW/Porsche/Merc/Audi and if you can get one with a metric speedo (or metric convertable) all the better.

The other plot may be a Sierra Cosworth, AWD Focus or one of those silly P-whatever 300kw Subaru WRXs

Problem with bringing English cars to Australia, is that they really don’t like the heat.

Or the flies…

Pretty soon they start whinging about wanting to go home.

Personally I don’t like German Marques, and all those models are,
Well,
Rather high on the ****ometer scale.

If you just want something you sell back here for a quick profit, then just go for the most recent BMW you can afford. Stick to mainstream models that were sold new in Australia.
