Default 2015 Mustang Australian Price

Not sure if this has been discussed anywhere, I haven't really been keeping up with all things Mustang but I just read in Ford's #guesswho media release:

The award-winning EcoBoost delivers efficiency with real power to the already exciting Mustang. The all-new Mustang will have a manufacturers list prices of between $50,000 and $70,000 when it launches in Australia in the second half of 2015.
So presumably $50k plus on roads for the entry 4 cylinder version? That's roughly what Ford are asking for a new supercharged XR8. Of course I'll have to drive one when they come out before making my mind up, but $50+ grand for a base 4 cylinder coupé and presumably $60-70k for the V8 is pushing the friendship. One thing is for sure, the FGX is a bargain.

Sounds disappointing if that's the case, considering what they sell them for in the states.

If they want 50k for an entry model, could that be Ford's way of preventing the Mustang from developing a bogan image? It sounds like Ford Australia will offer the Mustang as a prestigious brand and don't want it to become synonymous with some of the people that hoon around in old Falcons and Commodores.

So at those prices there will be an initial rush then sales will drop then they will stop importing due to lack of sales. Dejavu the last model they bought out. Hope it doesn't but fear the script is already written

New cars are too expensive in Australia.
Was going to get a Mustang GT but at $70,000, i might go for something second hand.

Will keep the one I have for that price.

"The all-new Mustang is the most advanced version yet of the iconic pony car." This does not mean it's a patch on any other car. It's a comparison with itself. The yanks don't use control blade suspension as far as I know. Not saying this is bad just that Mustang has been a lot of years behind Aussie/Euro design.

Yep, then the spin will be we discontinued them because there was no demand. Our customers have decided. Blah, blah, blah.

Just like; Fairlane, Falcon wagons, especially sports variants, V8 utes, Turbo Territory etc. etc.

They just don't want to succeed in these markets IMHO.

But hey, if you want to talk to your stereo we have Sync2 or whatever it's called.

Who cares, not me

They'll now blame the Aussie $$.

So, it looks as though Ford don't want to sell many of these vehicles.
They want it to be Premium by putting it at that price... Crickey.... How much more for the SVT vehicles etc

For that top price, I'd prefer to add an extra $10k and get the AMG A45..

Tempting, but at that price I'd feel ripped off a little.
Ideally the I4 would be around 45k and the GT coming in at 55k - 60k max.
Either hold on to my car a little longer or go another Euro.

I'm out too. The last few weeks I have been thinking I could get away with a 4 cyl Mustang when it comes time to trade in the XR6T but I wasn't expecting a 50k price tag. So no Mustang for us.

Probably not unreasonable considering we're getting fully loaded models.

Ecoboost we'll get is atleast $35k in the US and the GT 'vert is about $50K with options.
Also factor in the falling AUD

The projected prices are reasonable if you look at the prices of other US built vehicles sold here, like the Grand Cherokee or Toyota Highlander

Considering it will be the only RWD V8 you can buy under $150k at the end of 2017 its not bad...

70k for something sold for less than half that in the states. I love the look of the new stangs and really wanted one but at that price...I cant justify a 2 door.

There you go Ford, 100% of ford forum people so far think you have that wrong if its true.

I am also disappointed, although knew Ford would go this way.

Why do people expect to pay the same as the US? Cars here have always been expensive and it wont change

Exchange rate
GST, Luxury car tax
Import prices
Smaller market
High wages and Cost of living
Australian compliance

Its not like Ford just price the crap out of it because they want to bury themselves.

Wow, just looking at the prices in the states which range from $26,860-$41,090 (AUD adjusted), this means a 50-60% mark up, I'm pretty sure shipping isn't that expensive for each individual vehicle, and don't we have a free trade agreement? (correct me if I'm wrong). Another case of the USA ripping off aussies.

Count me out.

Id expect they'll drop the price after 2016 and might use that extra demand to take another bite at the apple. Or it'll be to little too late like most here suspect.

Something like a 370Z is over $60K drive away and thats just a V6. The V8 stang with the 6 speed auto would be a low 4 second 0-100km/h car.

Wrong.
They do set a high RRP because they know people are stupid enough to pay that much.

Its the same with everything here, not just cars.

Ford never learn don't price gouge and cars will sell! It should be around $39,990 for the 4. That's $15k more than America. Ford would buy them much cheaper!! Rethink!! The 300S is less that's the SRT with the 6 ,,,,

Except our Mustangs wont be the bargain basement model, all our models will include the Performance and Luxury packs. $34k EB and $41k 5.0 for autos in US , (2k cheaper for manuals).

Also this 50 - 70k talk is all speculation , I believe our good friend Josh Dowling started that talk and we all know how favorable to anything Ford he can be.

Australia, Asia and Europe are getting the premium versions of both the Ecoboost and the GT with extras.

Playing around with the build your Mustang on the Ford USA site and adding the features that will most likely be included the price for the Fastback Ecoboost is $37660 ($42864 AUD) for the Fastback GT it's $43890 US ($49955 (AUD).

For the convertible Ecoboost it's $43160 US ($49085 AUD) and for the GT it's $49390 US ($56171 AUD).

Note the prices are for the automatic and at today's rate.

Once you factor in the cost of importing the car, taxes etc and a falling AUD it's very easy to see the price of the Mustang starting around the $50000 mark and heading north towards $70000.

If Ford change their mind and offer the base versions along with the 6 CYL than you the prices would start less than $40000 and go up to around the mid $50's.
