Default Anyone replaced an AU V8 inlet fuel hose?

Has anyone replaced the main fuel hose that connects the injectors to the fuel supply in the engine bay.
Mine is leaking and I decided to pull it apart after work today.
The top connection is a quick release which easily came apart.
The bottom was connected to a metal pipe.
The hose is marked as 6.35 ID high pressure EFI hose.
After releasing the top part i pulled on the hose to try and get it off the bottom connection.
To my surprise the rubber fuel hose came off leaving another harder plastic hose still connected to the metal pipe.
The rubber fuel hose is just protection for the brittle plastic one underneath.
To replace the fuel line it looks like I will have to cut the old plastic one off.
My question is if I buy a new one how do I get it back on the steel pipe?

I priced a new one from Ford in Frankston and they wanted $163 best price they said.
I dropped a line to Darren at FTG and he can do one for $116 which is pretty good.
I am worried if I buy one I will still not be able to install it because of the tight fit onto the metal pipe.
Any info would be great

Just an update on the leak.
I rang ENZED and Dominic from the Hastings branch in Vic came out and said he could make up a hose for $20 using the original quick release connection.
He bought it back today.
I had to cut the old plastic hose off the metal fuel line, slip the new rubber hose on and clamped it with a special crimp on clamp. Seems to be O.K.

I am wondering if I had bought the new one from Ford how I would have connected it to the pipe.
