Default Anyone know much about mid 90's Mitsu Lancers?

Didn't know where else to put this so I thought I'd give it a shot here. I'm having a rather large issue with the missus 1994 CC Lancer hatch and it has me stumped. It's leaking water into the front drivers footwell and it appears to be coming from below the A pillar and behind the kick panel on that side causing a fair swimming pool when it rains. I've had a fair look around and just can't figure out how it is getting into the car but what I can see is that there is a plastic open ended tube that goes nowhere in the same spot. I've had a hose run on it when I was looking there and could feel the water coming in but couldn't see how and it wasn't through the tube. Any help would be appreciated as I'm sick of foggy windows and wet feet when I drive it to work (4 cyl much cheaper to run to Melb and back than the XR). The windscreen is getting replaced tomorrow so that will eliminate a windscreen leak (damn thing is cracked the entire width of it) but I don't think this will solve my problem.

We drove a Mirage for a long time...fantastic little car for what it is but boy did it leak! The main culprit was the crappy sunroof but we also got a puddle on the passenger foot well occasionally but as the sunroof was never fixed, I couldn't asscertain whether this was the culprit or something else too.

Dry it out and pour water down the scuttle panel to see where it exits from- you may be able to see if some of it disappears into the cabin behind the firewall.

I used to have a cb lancer which managed to end up with rust in some of the strangest spots, not big but major where it got rust it went all the way through, though that being said i didn't get that area wet inside

Check the radio arial on the a piller i have seen the gasket the seals the arial to the body go hard and crack letting water in when it rains and it ends up in the drivers foot well.

I have NEVER seen a lancer that didnt have rust in the roof, jsut about every 90's model one has had it along the roof, where the braces are underneath it, something about the glue reacting with the metal wrong.

I Know of a few guys that have had Mitsu Pay for their whole roof to be replaced 15 years after the car was purchased, the issue is that bad.

Hrmmm thanks for that. I might just get onto Mitsu HQ and ask if there is a known problem and if so what the fix is.

This is the main culprit.
Although I hated the aerial in my Proton (same as a CC Mirage hatch) ... so i ripped it out and welded the hole and painted over it ... much better.

Know of a few CC GSR owners that had this fixed ... even out of warranty ... it comes down to the dealer though ... some will laugh at you and tell you to fix it yourself ... and other places have fixed it.

I guess it comes down to the condition of the vehicle as well ... if it is in good nick they may consider it.

It was about a $1500-2000 job to do.

Well it would appear that the problem has been found. Windscreen place pulled the old screen out and found surface rust all along the top under the seal and traces of water running down to the A pillar. They reckon that the new screen will fix it but if it doesn't they reckon they can fix it another way.
