thats not a maybach, its a merc, notice the merc badges, maybach has different badges, looks like a maybach though

Isnt Maybach linked to Mercedes somehow ? That may explain the badges. It is definetely a Maybach but i remember reading about them and Mercedes was mentioned in the article. Hence the styling cues, grille etc etc. The Maybach name goes back a long way. Personally i would rather a P6.

yeh i know .i recieved it in an email and at the start it mentioned the price was $426,000.

its a bit smaller than maybach, with a smaller engine... same basic car though i think

Yeah there were two versions available IIRC. One so called base model and a limo version. Not as in stretched but slightly longer wheelbase.

Maybach is the LUXURY side of Mercedes..
like Lexus is to Toyota (yes i know in japan they are all toyota but its as close as you can get)

i think the Exelero(spelling is wrong).. was $1m which did a lap around bathurst from memory? is a batman mobile looking type thing

That's weird. It looks similar to a Maybach but at the same time is different. It also looks like a Mercedes badge on the steering wheel

It does have a Maybach badge on the boot. I cant explain the Merc badges but now that we have two different images, i think that explains my theory about the two different models. I may be wrong but. Post 20 may be the more expensive, slightly longer model.

i think they may have dropped the name of maybach and just called it a mercedes, the maybach might just be the model name thesedays... that one in post 20 is called the maybach 62? i think? the one with the wool from new zealand sheeps or something crazy like that...
and i think for a millionj dollars they actually use real wood for the woodgrain lol

Maybach 62 sounds familiar. IIRC the upper class model was 6.2 metres in length. Hence the 62 prefix.

Maybach and Merc may as well be the same thing. As stated, its the upmarket Merc, which is ironic really. I seem to recall you needed to have some ridiculous $$$ amount in assets to even be considered to own one, having the dollars to pay for it was not enough.

Im guessing but Id suggest Merc was trying to get its reputation back, BMW was the what you bought if you couldnt afford a Merc, not so much now, Merc just upped the ante with the Mayback and are probably in the process of combining the names to recapture their reputation as the 'choice'.

IIRC you could basically order any interior and exterior trim you wanted as well.
the option list was out of this world.
if you wanted gold plated seats - you got it
want diamond studded foot mats - you got it
want some cheap looking floosie with her shoes on the leather seats - you got it

is it possible that this is either:
a) either the 62 or the 57 (or whatever the shorter one is)
b) a Series 2

You mean the 57 and 57S. There was never a Mercedes-Maybach 56.

Not a Maybach fan. I wouldn't want to fork out $1,000,000 on a car which is basically a big back seat.

Now from the same company, for the same money you can have...

Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722 Edition

5.4litre V8 Supercharged, 478kW 820Nm, 0-100 in 3.5, 334km/h top whack and a ball more fun then any Maybach. Plus its got the prestige in spades.
