Cool Heaps of FGs in Carins

I just came back from vacation in tropical QLD and I must say there's heaps of FGs on the road there and they are beautiful.
I expect most of them to be rentals but I was seeing 10-20 a day and they are the best looking cars on the road.
Too bad my free hire car upgrade was Croppola to Camry Sportivo- I'd love to get XR6 for a week, that would be awsome.

p.s. 2008 Camry Sportivo is crap like all Toyotas- weak engine and poor handling. I loved getting back in my BA :

I honestly think, it is the XR6/T/8 Capital here in Cairns.

There are far more XRs on the roads then there is XTs, etc.

But you're right, a lot of the FGs getting around are hire cars, they all have thrifty stickers.

Yet to see any FG FPVs up here though!

You had to drive a Toyota hey? So did we when we went to California this year, a bloody Camry Solara, what a POS! The most ugliest car I've ever seen in my life. It defeated the whole purpose of travelling halfway across the world. We are supposed to be going over there again next year, (I'm not holding my breath though) to do it right by getting a Ford and picking the car at the right place this time so we don't end up with the complete opposite of what we wanted. I'm sorry if this is off topic, but it really peed me off and still does now.

I grew up in the Cairns area and there is certainly no shortage of Falcons up there. I would say Mackay had even more Falcons last time i passed through (FPVs were everywhere) but in terms of XRs and the luxo models Cairns has a surprisingly high number.

Of course they have tonnes of camrys and stuff too.....but very little exotic or premium stuff. People just won't shell out tonnes of cash for a car up there for no reason....it has to be worth it. Throw in a fair bit of highway work and it is little wonder the falcons are all over the place!

My office is opposite the Avis car park at Cairns airport & I've seen plenty of FGs being moved in and out of there. Also lots of VE SV6s in green and (that putrid) purple. They must have got a great deal on certain colours.

After seeing the way the hire car staffers treat these cars, no way would I buy an ex-rental.
