the ad seems ok to me, but i would be more interested in seeing actual testing and proof of durability and reliability, even though it doesn't really prove long term reliability.... it looks good.
for example .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7g40zn0lQE heres another , take note of the wording........ Australias population was mesmerized. http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...257125001A1505 i would much rather see a short clip vehicle actually proving itself rather than being told by a babe it it is better because ........ when was the last time a ford ad had the population mesmerized ? |

I must admit I don't have a problem with the ads. The obvious benchmark target for anyone trying to compete in anything - whether it's sport, business, selling cars, whatever - is the perceived best team or market leader. I don't believe Ford really think they're going to sell as many Mondeos as Toyota does Camrys, but if they were to make some buyers at least consider something different, surely some will be converted.
At least the ads are using facts, rather than trying to make a Toyota "woo hoo" exciting, which really is close to false advertising. Whether it works is a different story, of course. It may well be that the market still prefers the idea of "zoom zoom" and "woo hoo reliability".

I think the ads are borderline childish but I don’t buy on ads alone so if they get your attention then that’s half the job done.
In Fords defence the ads must have had some appeal because prior to hitting the media, focus groups are used to determine average reaction and if it was bad then the ads would never make the cut. Their long term success will be measured by sales figures.

They are still persisting with that annoying woman in their TV ads.

Good on Fords Marketing team! I wish they were around 5-7 years ago and maybe they wouldn't need to close local production.
