Been to track days at both venues.
Depends on who is the organiser. Most are good and quite safe, some have poor control and lots of morons on the track.

We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about. “Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”. |

These were track days organised by clubs etc, where you have exclusive use rather than the general practice days where you get general knobs like me?

Done lakeside drive days,
pretty relaxed, scrutineering per instructions on relevant web site/drive day instructions Watch out for commodores housing occupants with little driving ability, had one spin out right in front of me, could have ruined my entire day. |

2009 XR6T, son visits sometimes and I am doing some forward recon. If he was up at the right time we might be able to fit in QLD and Lakeside in the one week. Track to suit me and a track to suit him. XR6T v RX8.

Where is lakeside exactly? Is it a shorter twisty track then QR? |

Lakeside Rd Kurwongbah lol. Its pretty much due west of Redcliffe/ North Lakes but on the western side of the M1/Bruce Hwy. Prolly about 1.5hrs from Ipswich. Yes much tighter and twistyer than QLDR. See if u can find some race footage with Dick J, he won some great tussels up there in the XD days. Was closed for quite some years and now reopened doing drive days Defensive driving and ride days. Some V8 teams hire it for testing etc.

We are considering doing a road trip to Goulburn too, Track there is called Wakefield park and I would say is a cross between the two. Shorter than QR, longer than Lakeside, twisty at both ends with a hill/ elevation from start line around and up to back of circuit and back down to a decent straight. Google maps is your friend along with youtube where you might find some footage.

The people I generally go with are on FB - most stick to around 60 cars.
Some offer breaky and laps, some laps and a cuppa. Some of the groups offer up to 120 places and morons a plenty.

So you don't sign up through the actual raceway? Gets done thru community groups that then organise it?

Forgot to mention - it's worth watching a few laps on you tube to get a feel for the place (lakeside)
Braking marker under the overpass, turn in at the bus stop etc. Drivers Brief caught my attention when old mate started up with, "Lakeside has the fastest average speed of all tracks in Australia". I was thinking not likely, Phillip Island is wider, faster, and this looks nothing like PI's turn one -I can tell just by looking out from the pits .......
