Default 3.8 Second - 499KW MUSTANG for Australia

3.8Sec 499kw

Our cover image this month tells the story of the supercharged Ford Mustang landing in Australia, packing 499kW under its bonnet. Damion Smy reports that it’s expected to land here priced from about $75K, where it will start hunting the $90K HSV GTS flagship.

There is no way it will cost 75k, having said that it will be awesome if they do come to Australia.

Hold the phone! Current Mustang GT owners just collapsed and had to be revived. But let's hope it's ????

Interesting.
$9.50 for a copy of Wheels, it didn’t know it was anything like that much, it shows how long since I’ve bought a copy.

Hey what happens when only Mustang is around post Holden shutdown next year for these comparo's....comparing to a HSV is only mildly smirk inducing now but anything Euro will be triple to quad the price...and a rhd GM coupe just cannot get over the horizon.

Wouldn't it be more comparable to any of the Walsingham kitted Commodores than a HSV?

If that really is coming I wouldn't want to have just ordered a mustang or sprint. It sometimes pays to play the waiting game. We all know Holden have left the best till last. Wonder if the last GTS will top 499KW. Now that ford has quoted I guess they will try for a few more

If the 75K is indeed true correct, and for that matter the car too, as nothing announced yet by Ford it'll be around the 85 mark on-road for V8.

Not to shabby at all!

Don't think Sprint buyers will have any associated regrets. That purchase is about having the fastest and best and LAST Falcon. Not necessarily the biggest fastest appendage in the playpen.

Man that's pretty insane to think about. It was seriously not even 5 years ago that 500HP was reserved for crazy AMG's and M cars as the entry level into that kind of power. Now 500HP is pretty much expected from anything that claims to be sporty, even the XR6T sprint gets 500HP on overboost.
Now 500Kw is the new benchmark that fast cars need to have.

A 500Kw GTS is a far cry from the 215Kw one from '96

Trouble with a waiting game is How long do you wait, there will always be something else around the cnr. Just have to enjoy whats here and now I reckon.

This might be what I mentioned before, my dealer said down the track you could have your new stang tricked up here in Melb under ford approval costing up to 50K depending on what you wanted done.

And its still pitifull that 100/110 kph is still the maximum speed between cities, in a divided carriageway in the middle of nowhere, when it was the same back in '96. Get with the times, Australia.

The 350R is certainly a weapon, check out some of the reviews on it especially on a track..

Sounds unbelievable at 8000 Rpm

Ford finally pricing cars realistically, not price gouging, if this price is correct.

That might be relevant if it was a factory spec car.

Up until now , you could only dream of owning a Shelby .. The vehicle's that had been brought into Aust - 350 GT , Snake or Super Snake , would be priced in the $150k-$200k mark
Now we are bein told it is possible we could get a 500hp or better for under $80k
As confirmed by the earlier post - should Ford deliver the car as advertised at under $80k it will certainly be a game changer
Note ... It's interesting how Ford has pulled the pin on the development and continuance of the Ford GT claiming insufficient sales warrant future development , yet they now see fit to export a 500hp 2 door into Aust ?
