Tax Cuts how did you do...

Seems to be a hot topic on the News Blogs.

Me I am very happy with the Tax cuts I get to see more of what I earn and it goes a long way to cover the higher interest rate and fuel cost.

i get nothing. ill be earning over 6000 this year and McDonalds never seem to tax me enough.. so looks like i'll be paying this year

I was pleased to see families did very well and the superannuation tax reform will go a long way to help those approaching retirement.

My boss seemed to have an ear-to-ear grin on his face as well. It would appear he's no longer in the top marginal tax rate

Wouldn't mind an income the same as that last figure. Having a $10,200 tax cut is a substantial amount. Would go towards the payments on a new car.

It's funny that if you earn from $40-$60 K you only get $510 a year.
But some one earning $5K less gets an extra $200 a year and if you earn $65 K you get an extra $240 a year????

Needless to say I'm smack bang in the middle of that group! :(

Money to the government for nothing. I still dont see why we should pay taxes at all with petrol prices so high.

Haha, if you were earning that much I don't think you would worry too much when it was time for another car, I know I wouldn't.

As I only work part time I think I will save $365, which is better than nothing I guess.

i heard that the average joe would get an extra 10 bucks in their fortnightly packet, but if (and i'm guessing) a lot of people are around the 30-35 bracket, that would equate (using the above chart) to being around 700ish a year saving, which means an extra $25+ per fortnight. Is that right ?

Anyone have a link to somewhere that can work it out for you ?

Yeah true. I guess I'm looking at it from my perspective. For them its probabbly nothing. Maybe it's the difference between Business and First Class.

I'm in the $10 per week category. $19.55 a fortnight to be exact.

I think what you would have heard is an extra $10 a week (not fortnight)

Well that's what I heard at the gym today anyhow...

And by looking at the chart - the 'average joe' would probably save around $510 a year (roughly $10 / week, or $19.62 / fortnight, or $42.50 / month)

I see... Working that out i'll get about an extra $29 per fortnight, which it nothing to sneeze at, that's a third of a tank of fuel!

give with the left, take with the right.. that why they are taxes.. 10 to1 says before 1/7 something goes up the extra few beans they have given away

But... on related topic, the budget has not helped in the misses want (sorry need) to have kids.
They are trying to tell us all to have more childern to offset those that are now in the retirement stage....
"One for mum, one for dad and one for the country" if I remember correctly.

Going by that tax table. It looks like I get nothing. I was getting taxed 30% before and I'll be getting taxed 30% still. I earn $48,000-$53,000pa.

My only benefits are from childcare. I can claim $4000 per child which I'll definately be doing. Go to get something back somewhere.
