I got my lsd retightened yesterday and it gets a bit hairy when I accelerate hard. The car goes sideways now and chirps on a few occasions..Normally it just accelerates hard forward but if it finds a slight bump on the road it seems I must back off the pedal. Is this normal for lsd owners?

The car feels much better with it all working well.
It seems that the power is being transferred to the ground nicely and the extra push forward is a very welcome side effect. I will take it easy in the wet for sure until I get used to it. Driving it easy as I do 99% of the time it is fine. What other things should I be aware of ?

Are you sure you dont have a blown big block under that bonnet of yours?
Taking it easy should solve your issues.

Itll do 180's Stav :P if you give it a bootfull.
Seriously just normal driving,I wouldnt notice a difference. I find a spool is much more controllable for hard driving (track) much more predictable in a slide than an LSD.. |

Tony ..I think I was being a bit too adventurous as I fanged it to overtake a commie and then it just felt a bit unpredictable. Maybe I should get a spool too.... :

Tyres and suspension are very important. My next tyres will need a aa traction rating. Anyway seems like this is just something I am gonna have to be careful with. The single spinner still gave me full control even the the ride felt sloppier.

One thing that can get you unstuck with a LSD is suddenly lifting off the throttle when the tail is a little bit out. It will usually result in a tank slapper. You are better off keeping your foot on the throttle even if the rear wheels are spinning or you can very gently ease off the throttle.
When you get used to a LSD there is no way you would ever consider going back to an single wheeler as the LSD gives you so much more car control. |

Yep LSD gives you heaps more control and predictability compared to a single spinner.
When you launch too hard off the lights and spin the wheels the car will always kick out to the left, and as someone else said it can get a little crazy if your giving it a bit of throttle and the road surface suddenly changes. But other than theres not much difference to a normal SS when crusing around the streets. I dont know what you guys are talking about concerning roundabouts an LSD is fine around a roundabout just like any other car its only if your giving it or drive a car with 200rwkw+ that it might come out. Remember it only transfers extra drive to the other wheel when it senses the other losing traction so it should be fine, a locker however would be a different story. You'll probably be used to the LSD by the time you read this post, one thing i notice between LSD V SS is that you can push your car so much harder through corners before it starts to break traction. What size wheels and tyres have you got? I have 17x8's with 235/45/17 Bridgestones and they give awesome traction with the LSD. |

I want and LSD...the single spinner in my eb is predictably unpredictable..... it will just spin the one wheel while the other grips and when you least expect it ..bam...its kicked out...

lsd is fun in the wet, specially with a shift kit......
once you get used to it you'll notice that lsd is so much more controlable and predictable than an ss diff.....getting the power to the ground is another bonus |

Seems odd to me. My diff was acting like the above before I had it reset and shimmed up. Whenever I took off hard from a standing start I used get a little sideways drift to the left, and hard cornering was a pain because the LSD simply wasn't doing what it was supposed to. Before I ran the dutton Rally, I had my diff fully reset and shimmed up and it made a huge difference. Taking off in a straight line, the car goes straight and their is hardly any wheel spin, and cornering is smooth and presise and the grip is there. I think they torqued mine up to around 170nm where as before it was only 5 nm. Cheers
