Taken from LS1 forum (we don't get current affair in NZ).
A Current Affair just had a small piece on the Wheels COTY award. They showed some footage of the judges fanging a variety of cars around, including a Clubsport R8 and the full VE Range. They announced the top three cars as well. If you don't want to know, stop reading now. Top 3 in no particular order, VE Commodore (They showed the SS-V), Toyota Aurion, BMW 3 series coupe. Winner will be announced on ACA tomorrow night. |

VE will win. Not because it is COTY, but because the amount of advertising Holden/HSV does with Wheels magazine.

Got it in one Puts99.
Never mind the fact the the Bimmer is a fantastic car with a metric arsseload of engineering been put into it, im sure Holden's Commodore is more worthy of COTY... Hmm..... It will win over the BMW sheerly because of its national profile... and all the other promotional crap. |

VE better not win, 4spd auto & poorest fuel economy in its class are major issues these days, servicing costs (tyre replacement) and base engine isn't anymore advanced than what you could buy 12mths ago from Ford.

Mate , I fail to see who would give a flying sh.t what wheels magazine would think ! Their points of veiw have been pompous and highly influenced by money from different carmakers for years! just my opinion !

But is there evidence suggesting Holden's success in the eyes of Wheels magazine is correlated to amount of ads they place with them?

Need I say more? Seriously though, Yes I believe that the VE will win for that pure reason alone. Whether or not it could have won on its own merits, we'll never know. However lets not forget the BA and Territory are past Wheels COTYites.. |

For base models the VE isn't anything special. While the Beamer is the best out of the three the Aurion would be the best buy for your money and I'm rarely a fan of Toyota.

Well thats true and the POS won. I think the BFII is a much nicer car than any that got through. esp with the 6spd auto and everything else. : |
