I've got 2 large tanks that i use for the water which goes through a 2hp pump, better than mains pressure.

Although when it gets low i may use the mains.

I use a watering can. All the neighbours still use the hose and they **** me. If I need a hose I go around to the car wash or my Dad's place as he has rainwater tanks AND a bore.

I have to go to a car wash and spend $5 every week. Dosn't sound like much but it's free to do it at home.

I don't like the idea of that waterless stuff.

DIY Car wash place for me...I bring my own sponge and chamois and proceed to **** off all the people waiting in the queue due to the time it takes me. There is no way I would use the brush they supply and the jet sprays don't really get all the dirt off.

I commandeer a bay in the local car wash with my bucket and 10lt bottle of tap water from home.. Give it a $1 rinse off, then a sponge wash with my BYO water and finish with a $2 final rinse. : : : :

I’ll be down there Saturday, washing the DECA dirt off and getting ready for the club cruise on Sunday... :eclipsee_ :eclipsee_ :eclipsee_

I use hose. No point using watering can... because :-

1) It uses more water
2) Takes a lot more time
3) Therefore no sense in using the watering can

I wash my car late at night or very early in the morning, no "water restriction" camries patroling the streets.

Here in SA, you're still allowed to wash you car, the only restriction is that you can't use a hose. So I use a watering can to rinse it off.

Renters don't pay for water. Ok, so it's INCLUDED in their rent, then.
My local car wash has a sign saying "NO BUCKETS ALLOWED!"

For all the stuff I miss about living down south, I realy dont miss water restrictions . Im going out to hose my driveway out so the rain can wash all the grass and pebbles away now !

I was my car at those car washing bays. Cost cash but at least I am abiding by the rules as best I can.

We need it. I think at my house we've had about 20-30mm so far this year.

Yeah I use those high pressure wash car washes. The ones with the brushes are crap and dont clean anything. The high pressure ones arn't much better though. Oh, the good ol' days of the sponge and bucket

And I'm a renter who pays for the water. Its only included in the rent if it cant be differentiated. I used to live in 1 unit of a row of units and all of them ran off the same meter, so the water usage for each unit couldn't be determined and was made part of the rent. Now I live in a house and obviously it has its own meter.

Our cars actually got washed yesterday "IT RAINED" bout the 6th time this year , otherwise ours have that "Natural Look" it's called dust : The Mrs normally just goes to the carwash around the corner and does a
$1-00 wash the windows job for safety .

We're not wasting water here till we know the drought has definitely ENDED .

I don't use commercial car washes here in Melb because I heard they recycle the grotty water over and over - does anyone know if that's true?

At the moment the ute's not that grubby, so it's Meguiars 'Final Inspection' every day. When she's grubby it'll be a 100 mile an hour hose off and bucket bath with the clean water I've saved in millions of buckets in the house.

pffft to those of you conversing with us while it's raining. I can't even remember what rain is!

It is very easy and quick to do at home, by making your own waterless wash mix ( see link below ), it does take a few tries to get used to.

It can be used regardless of water deliver method
Hose, Carcher type system, or hand held spray bottle

The method for applying the wash / water mix is a 100% winner and i would never again use suds in a bucket.

I can clean the whole car or just panels that need it, the trick is to keep a well maintained and waxed car to minimise wash effort and to use a quick detail between washes, i very much doubt i have used more than 20 lts of water in over 6 months.

yet the results are as good and if not better, in a way the restrictions have only improved upon the way things were done not hindered them.

the link is a rough guide i did in the e series forum and will update the main guide shortly.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...R+RESTRICTIONS

using the method i found this in the mail so not all that bad
