Default ratetheplate.com.au

watching today tonight it talked about the usual hoon crap.
and showed www.ratetheplate.com.au

just thought id spread the word a bit. it is a good idea.
basically you get on and enter the persons number plate and comment on their driving.

can check your own plate to see if you have been in trouble etc.

so far im good.
would be interested to see if anyone comes up on there.

so far it is mostly nsw and act i think but has some for the rest of the states.

i watched today tonight too and i think this is a brilliant idea. i've registered but i'm having trouble activating my account, so i've sent them an email.

it does look like not many people know about it outside ACT and NSW so hopefully this will spread the word around.

mmmmmmm interesting wonder how many of these incidents are true or over exaggerated..

even still its about time something like this was made to shame these type of "stupid" drivers.

Since it was just on TV I'm guessing the server is getting absolutely hammered. You might find your email comes through in a while.

Would be a good tool when buying a car too, check the plate on there. If it has a bunch of "was doing burnouts" and crap, I wouldn't be buying that car in a hurry.

Very useful tool in my opinion. Now I just need some sort of device to record the plates of all those idiots that seem to cross my path.

there is how ever a few problems.
1. on the show they had somone writing down the license plate while driving. which in its self is dangerous.

2. if i hate frank i can get his plate number and go and bad mouth him.

and 3. people can exaggerate things easily.

I think point 2 & 3 are major if you have had a fooling out with someone for example and they wont to make things difficult point 2 & 3 are very valid.

As Holmsy said it'll only encourage vigilante idiots who probably are worse drivers than the people they are reporting

well, hopefully if more people join and start using the service, then a single comment by 1 person should not have much bearing compared to a number plate that has 20 people commenting badly about it.

No, this is just another one. You will see others arive on scene, and some will die a natural death, or death by punitive action.

Again, for the third time regarding these ACA/TT 'dob-in' websites; 'legal danger.' (Idiotdriver etc)

Be prepared to face court for any false accusation you make.

Have a problem with an idiot, call the cops, part of what they do for a living.

true, you wouldn't want to be there every day posting comments about other people's driving. you really just want to use it when someone does something really bad.

i've only ever rang the cops once to report an idiot on the roads. they took the details and the description of the incident but whether they went and did something about it is another story.

it was the worst driving i've ever seen and it took place over 5km of freeway/suburban roads with a moron who was speeding on the freeway, cutting people off from the inside lane on the exit ramp and then doing well over 100km/h down a 60km/h zone near logan hyperdome.

the list of most common report reasons.

1. Road Rage
2. Street Drag Racing
3. Driving too slow
4. Speeding
5. Using Mobile/Cell Phone
6. Did Not STOP
7. Speeding - excessively
8. Vehicle dangerously overloaded

i find it very hard to beleive street drag racing to be so common.

i have never ever seen a real street drag race.
and how often would you have time to get their plate number unless you catch up to them.
im thinking most of those reports would be false. such as one i found that had some guy say this girl was racing and said she was cute. and then a pile of people rippin on him for bein a tool

No joke.

I roll my eyes at those shows, they're sensationalist crap most of the time. When they're not sensationalist crap, they're cross promoting other programs on their network.

Lazy, filthy driving habits one after the other with this clown. This guy NEVER uses his blinker and constantly casually swerves his big red BA XR6 in and out of lanes. Tailgated me for a long time when I was doing about 93kmh in a 90kmh zone. His lack of respect for others is a filthy disgrace. SELFISH and IGNORANT man.

These kind of well meaning but ill-conceived sites come up from time to time. The problem with them is people abuse the site and put someone's number up there just because they don't like them or some such thing. One site had the Prime Minister's limo on it, reported for doing burn outs!!

How dodgy is THAT? I mean as if you would dump your kids there and go into the shop, FFS.

back on topic, It appears that site is aimed at P platers etc, does it cater for fully licensed bad drivers as well?

good idea.... dont make me laugh!!
nothing stops anyone with a chip on their shoulder posting absolute rubbish on that site.
trust me, i know.

and no, it wasnt about me. it was about a very good friend of mine.

i was with her, driving down a major-ish road, minding our own business, and a complete idiot then decided to take a fancy to her (she is a gorgeous young girl, p plates, in a very clean car that she takes ALOT of pride in, so she does get noticed by the boys) by weaving through traffic, tailgating her, changes lanes, and stops next to her at the next lights.
she totally ignored him, which she always does, coz anything else is just seen as a 'come on' to these numbskulls, and he didnt realise that i was with her at first.
we had a quiet laugh (coz he went from Mr Mucho to Mr Wallflower very quickly!!) when he twigged, the lights went green, so he floors it, cuts her off, slams on the brakes, and then floors it again while giving us the finger!!

anyway, we thought "yep, ********" and no more of it, until a few weeks later that her sister found a post on that site about this story, but it said that she was the one weaving through to traffic, cutting him off and giving the bird and that her 'boyfriend' (me i presume) threated him at the lights and told him to stop looking at her!!
u can imagine the email that both of us sent to the admin of ratetheplate after that... and the post was removed.

so, IMHO, ratetheplate is just a waste of time.
and while a complaint is dealt with, like her's was, the damage has been done by then, coz even tho her parents know her better than that, imagine what a garbage story like that could do to a parent/child relationship if the parents had signed up and been notified....

Its hard for us P platers cos 70% of us are good drivers and the rest are dragging us down into the shyte for being hoons. I for one am not a hoon, Im can be a bit aggressive at times but I dont speed, I have spent too much on my car to trash it. I treat it with RESPECT unlike some morons out there... I RESPECT others on the road except for people doing the wrong thing....

I thought the site was going to be about rating clever numberplates, but it seems to be just a bunch of sooks.
Just another dob-in sites. Like said before, if you have a problem, call your local police station, etc.

The won't investigate unless somebody is bashed or you're a woman. Imagine being a cop and having to listen to "he said, she said" all day long. Without independent witnesess, nobody can prove anybody did anything.
