Talking Manual Conversion

I have a 99 XR8 auto and I am wanting to convert it to a manual just wondering if any one has done this before and a estimate on the cost.... :sm_headba

Heaps.. better off trading it in on a manual one, much cheaper.
Better still, trade up to a AU2/3 XR8 220 manual, cant go wrong.

Conversion will set you back $2-3k depending on the amount of new parts you get, and whether you get it installed or not.

You can probably re-coup about $1k of that, from selling your Auto stuff. I have done this for an I6.

or you can take the 6spd manual option which i believe will set you back around 6-7000

i looked into getting a conversion when i got my xr8 & its not cheap, so im just going to put in a big a** stall.

I did mine on a 6 though.. not sure how much v8 gearboxes are worth in comparison. I needed a new tailshaft, pedalbox, ECU, gearbox, gearstick, clutch, clutch cable, shift knob and gear boot. So worth it.. i had a nightmare the other night that i was driving my car and it was an auto :

get a kit from FTG auto salvage or grant walker parts, fairly sure its about 1500 for a six prolly a bit more for the 8

You won't want to hear it but PHILSTOJ is right.

Sell and buy a manual.

Will cost less for sure and yes series II better brakes engine etc. well worth it.
