Registering NSW engineered cars in VIC

Has anydone done this before?

What im wanting to know is will Vicroads accept the NSW engineer report or will i have to go through the whole process again in Vic?

I sold mu 1UZ-FE powered hilux dual cab 2WD to a fellow from Victoria. It was NSW engineered.
He was able to get it regoed in Victoria because it had a standard ECU and therefore was as much complied as an LS400.

Do you know if he had to get it looked at by an engineer, or just gave the engineer papers to the Vic mechanic/Vicroads for RWC and he passed it?

The car is an early Toyota sedan running 1JZ-GTE, although it has an aftermarket computer it wouldnt be hard to return it to stock. The conversion is straight forward and everything basically bolts in and connects without fuss, so i couldnt see it having too hard a time getting registered.

Just find a RWC guy that will honour the NSW stuff. Some wont but some will ;)

Dan know anyone in particular that honour NSW engineers certificates?

The cars already in Vic and registered so would that mean because Vicroads has the new engine number on their system, they would be cool with the conversion?

Technically a NSW engineering cert is not valid in Vic, neither is a QLD blue plate.

I have a QLD blue plate for racing seats and I was told it wasnt vaild, Im like but those seats are not racing seats you goon and he denied my RWC anyway for the AIT compliance plate. He said it was dodgy. :(

I dont know anyone in particular but a few are in the mindset that the ADR's are the same nationwide so the engineers cert can be from anywhere.

From my understanding.. in order to get a nsw engineers cert you have to present a vehicle with nsw reg.. if vehicle already has vic reg you have to get a vic engineers cert..

If vicroads already has new engine number on their system then it should be ok with them.. That doesn't mean the police will accept it though.. always better to have a valid cert for the state you in..

The car already has a NSW engineers certificate, then it was bought to Vic and registered.

Its just so much hassle getting it engineered in Vic so im trying to avoid that if possible...

I know the NSW RTA has a list of engeering signatories that it will accept certificates from. This list includes engineers from interstate.

I'd say all you have to do is ask VIC roads which engineering signatories it accepts. Compare the list. If no match, just try a few VIC engineers and see if they can issue you a new certificate base on the NSW cert.
