Drove past this near work, and thought I'd take a closer look..
It's not a genuine GT, (ID is JG67SG I think) Has 351 clevo, toploader, 9" & GT dash etc.. Looked very straight & rust free. Is 20k too much?

Hmm $20k is a tad to high for a non genuine GT for my liking, but Im sure others would happily pay for it.

I'd pay 20g's for it. Think of the money saved on paint and panel.

First car I had was for pommie ford v8 built in 1939 and it cost me $100.00 and was running and registered back in the late 60's was just a couple of weeks work. For that sort of money you can get a decent late model jag or exotic even a 1980's roller that exudes class |

Try finding a reasonable hardtop falcon in any model combo for under 5k. Very few and far between. As for xy gt - good cars are 70k to 80k and more.
The days of 1980's and 1990's prices are ancient history. |

JG67 makes it a Fairmont. The difference in coop prices from even 5 years ago let alone over the last 10 years are astounding. They are in demand, the price is up. 10 years ago a Goss Coop was almost shunned. Now look at their prices. For a good condition Fairmont 351/Top Loader/9 inch, I still reckon it's right on the money. Pick it up for $17k you'd have to be happy. This is assuming that any rust repairs have been done properly.

I went to an auction in the U.S less than a year a go, and a mint condition Boss 429 sold for U.S 137,000. At the time we thought it was ridiculous and now they are fetching almost double that in some cases.

Im with xalent on this one - he is in no means out of the ballpark on his figures. I agree - 17k and thats a good solid buy.
atec77 - with all due respect mate how the hell can you go talking bout buying cars in the 60's for X amount of dollars then complain about the pricing now. 30 years mate aint a small amount of time!!!!!! Fair go!!!!! |

I reckon $20k is in the ballpark , GSWXA is right , "supply & demand" doesn't matter if it's a car - house - or an old wheelbarrow, an Item is worth "what someone is prepared to pay for it" and these cars are getting rare in good condition . Neighbours son has an XB Fairmont Coupe on eBay ATM (good car) I think it's worth somewhere around that amount .
Atec77 I'm probably about your vintage , but I think a "collectable" Roller (R/R) of say 30's or so would be worth a lot more than the day it was built , a lot rarer than an 80's model . (no offence meant) New cars = Depreciation ............Older cars = Appreciation. Cars in between "Ain't worth a lot" _
