it was a brilliant game tonight - awesome play. Melb started off very strong, then got a little dodery, and then came back fighting. their play was reminicent of earlier socceroos matches. i'll be going to the grand final for sure, and would be happy to go with a group from here if anyone is interested.

I went to the match. Been to 9 so far. I'll go to the Grand Final too.
We got the winning goal in extra time with about 1.5-2 minutes left! Don't get arrogant Victory fans, we were VERY fortunate to win. Adelaide don't give away easy goals, and we got one. Also, I reckon Newcastle will beat Adelaide, meaning Newcastle will play Victory. And Newcastle are the best team in the competition at the moment. So we shall just have to wait and see. |

Having travelled over for the match it was a bitter pill to swallow losing like that, but what astounded me was the way 90% of the Victory supporters handled the win as we were leaving the Telstra Dome. The vast majority of them said things like 'bad luck', 'see you in two weeks maybe' and 'tough way to lose' etc and were humble in defeat.
And then there was the other 10% of morons like BLUPRNT XR8 and AU2PWR who acted like children and were rubbing it in our faces. In fact, I would say they handled the win worse than the Poms did the 2005 Ashes victory. (i.e NO MODESTY) Kudos to the 90% of fans, and to the other 10% of morons, it would bring me great pleasure to play your mob in the Grand Final and defeat you on home soil. |

Man, how did i miss this thread.
Anyway go Victory, i was there and i was absolutely ecstatic at the final whistle. Tough luck to Adelaide though, i didn't think we would score 2 after we went behind. What a way to win but, : bring on the GF, it is going to be massive here in Melbourne. PS, gotta love Mike Sheehan's article in tuesdays sun, claiming the game was "ho hum", suffer in your jocks for leaving 4 mins early Mike!

I love how people are calling you a "sore loser" yet you're applauding the majority of Victory fans for their modesty. No, you're no sore loser mate. You've taken it in your stride so don't listen to the grunts. Like any sporting club, there are the majority of supporters who go for the game and respect their opposition, and there's the 10% who think they're the biggest supporters and by that, they have to treat everybody else like garbage and disrespect everybody. When their team loses, they abuse the opposition, throw garbage on the field and still think they're the best supporters. I know how you feel. I saw a heap of dickheads throw bottles on the ground after the game, once again thinking they were great. I reckon that throwing a bottle should result in a phat 200 dollar on the spot fine. As I said, Adelaide were extremely unlucky not to win. Adelaide's defence was solid (especially in the first half) and Costanzo was killing us on his own. The first Allsopp goal was a bloody nice goal. However, the second goal was a scramble and once again, Adelaide don't give many of them away so we can count ourselves (Melbourne) extremely fortunate. There's being realistic, and there's kidding yourself. We haven't won the premiership yet. So let's keep a lid on things. |

Next week will be a good game, and I will say that Newcastle are a bigger threat than Adelaide to our Premiership aspirations.
I have my seat to the GF. |

yep should be a rippa final as long as the ref plays the best game.
Top game Adelaide/Newy...some dodgy decisions made. May the better team on the day hold the Trophy !

To put it in perspective, last sunday for the semi with Adelaide, 5 people were ejected. Down the road at the MCG at the cricket there was something like 190 ejections.
