Hello All,
I am having trouble with a secon IE window opening up whist using IE. Its not everytime I change pages though?. Its not a pop up as such as I have popup blocker on and when in original window pop ups aree not coming up, just this whole new window, always advertising something. I have run AVG full scan, Spware Doctor and Spybot all have found items and I have deleted them all but still this annoying s*#t is still happening. Any ideas Running IE7 |

Sounds like a popup beating your popup blocker. I once had a popup i couldn't get rid of ( i had pop up blocker running and all ) , scanned pc with top programs , still couldn't get rid of it. Then 1 day i downloaded the yahoo toolbar into my browser and realised it had a free pc scan program built in , i ran the free yahoo anti-spy software and it got rid of it and a few other unfound spyware traces ! - i was dumb founded especially after using pay for $ software originaly with no luck, lol. Might be worth a go for you too. ?

once youve deleted this crap (dont get me started-thats 1/2 the reason i bought a mac;) ) clean the PREFETCH file of these items (found here on XP only - cows/prefetch) and make sure you delete the traces of the files from Spybot or the uninstalling of a program. I used to use AVAST.com antivirus, found to be the best. For those damn applications that say "cannot delete because still in use!!!!" use KILLBOX.com...then uninstall... also check registry for trace elements too (start/run/regedit) then search for the keywords and delete the coded line or file where needed. oh and never use Toolbars. Did you know the CDROMS that Maccas gives the kids with the Happy Meal has Spyware encoded into it... it crashed my pc once.

Nope nothing there either. This is annoying. The people that invent these things should be dealt a slow and painful beating

Sounds like something dodgy enabled in the startup config maybe, goto start/run then open: msconfig , then goto the startup tab and untick anything suspicious. Apply the settings then restart your pc, check the task manager again and if the problem is gone then do a seach of your hardrives for the filename/s you unticked from the startup and delete them. gl

Found a checked item in msconfig/startup with no details so got rid of that problem still here. Found another item in startup CoalBlueCoolGrid rule multi.exe. Unchecked it and problem still there. This file is inder a directory CoalBlueCoolGrid in Document and Settings/All Usere/Application Data/ CoalBlueCoolGrid. I cannot delete it as it is in use by another program, there is a second file in there called program store link that I can also not delete. This directory and files were created around the same time I began having trouble.
Just another item, on restart or power up the windows update download sheild appears in task bar. I cannot open it to see what it is downloading and it always shows 0%. After 30 secs or so it disappears???? |

Just watching things here again and while having the CoalBlueCoolGrid Directory open the program store link file date modified changes as these pop ups appear. So I'm pretty sure here is my problem, but I cannot do anything to these files as they are in use by another process. Any ideas
Thanks Darren |

Well after two boot ups in safe mode to remove directory and files from regedit and two scans of spybot and avg under safe mode all seems to be okay again.
I do not how these people think that pop ups this way are a good thing, after having them for a few days the companies advertsied would be the last people I will deal with. Unless thats the plan of the culprit here. |
