Before i start, theres no need to post the Whirlpool website, i asked that question there and all i got was 100 people post their ping speeds.
What i am wanting to know, i am with TPG, although i am happy with my 1.5mbit connection i dont feel like getting bent over by them to get 8mbit ADSL. In NSW Exetel offer $65 for Up to 8192kbps Down/384 kbps Up 36 gbytes (12am-12pm) 12 gbytes (12pm-12am), which i think isnt too bad as i only download at night. But then i think you get what you pay for : so i hoping theres some guys and girls who might use Exetel and be able to let me know what they think ?

TPG are going to phase out 1.5Mb and convert everyone to ADSL2+. And there is no going back once you change over. I was offered a free migration and they sold me dodgy modem, I blamed the ADSL 2+, apparently they have HEAPS of problems with drop outs and there is a whole forum about it. All is good now since I exchanged the modem. It aint that quick because I live 3Km from the exchange but its quick enough.

I used to by with exetel. I wasn't happy with the service, impossible to contact any via phone for billing and tech help and they throttle all p2p traffic to 50% i think. any was getting disconnection everyday if not more.
Left them and went to Internode. High recommend them, no disconnection and full bandwidth for whatever you want to do when you wanna do it. Great service. I'm on a 8mbit / 20Gb plan, no problems. I know you said no whirlpool links, etc, but check out the internode forum there and have a read. cheers, Luke

A friend of mine is with exetel, there service is great providing you dont have any issues. They have a voice activated support which is completely useless, in saying that though its the first issue they have had in 3 years which turned out to be the modem anyway.

I've been with Exetel for about 4 years service was great untill, as was mentioned before, the dreaded voice activated support. Other than that great value, especially for us folk here in the bush

I just left Execrap after having continuous issues with slow speeds, disconnections and dropouts. The service is non-existent and the managements attitude to customers is one of contempt.
I went to AAPT and have been really happy. |

I was with Exetel, and I was treated like absolute crap as a customer. They responded to my emails with absolute rudeness and they should be ashamed of their customer service record. Often they were not able to be contacted by phone, and they would not call me back on my mobile to rectify their stuff ups. Keep well away from EXETEL... I was so pi$$ed off I was tempted to go to their office to find the people in the "customer service" section I had been communicating with seeing as they were 2 suburbs away. But leaving them was enough.. Im with Netscape now. They even offer a dial up account should your broadband not be working. Hope this helps... |

Netscape is the browser which Firefox was bred from. Edit: Oh, and I use Internode when at home.

Forget Exetel. I considered them and discovered they treat you like crap even before you are a customer.
Don't be bluffed by their promises or low prices. Go for Internode! |

I struggle to get through a gig each month. I only download some stuff towards the end of the month to use up some of it, or the wife wants something. There is honestly more to life than downloading the internet, or watching TV. :P
