I was nicely surprised to read that Caltex are (seemingly) taking responsibility for selling contaminated fuel, hopefully this doesn't affect any members, but if it does, it may explain why the cars been running roughly over the last week or 2 (if it hasn't completely died).
Supplier Name: Caltex Australia Petroleum Pty Ltd Product Info: Regular unleaded petrol which may have been contaminated with diesel was sold at some Caltex service stations in the Greater Newcastle area and stretching north to Hastings and Port Macquarie, south to Wyong and west to Dubbo between Monday 26 February 2007 and Friday 2 March 2007. Atleast they admit to it,....
Diesel shouldn't hurt in small quantities.... I guess they are loosing as diesel is slightly more expensive??? Just replaced fuel pump on near new Rodeo, it runs on Caltex...

That's better than their supermarket partner. A good chunk of NSW got a dodgy batch of petrol, contaminated with seawater...

everytime i have gotten fuel from caltex in Sth Brisbane i have had problems.

95% of the time my Fiesta runs on Caltex fuel and its great! In fact, my best economy ever was on a 50/50 tank of Vortex and Vortex 98 which returned a combined average of 5.82L/100km... which is quite remarkable, considering Sydney traffic and all.
Second best result, 6.06L/100km, = Optimax Extreme.

Caltex supply that whole region with unleaded, so it won't just be caltex stations that have dodgy fuel.

Two weeks ago I filled up the ute and the seals on both tank senders started leaking simutaneously. Something in the fuel doesn't agree with 40 year old rubber seals methinks.....
was Caltex too. Regards Tote
