Default Damn headlights out of alignment!

Had a Merc behind me tonight and its bloody headlights were so far out of alignment that every single dip or bump in the road it hit their light went ove the roof of my car. Now this got me thinking, why is it that cops dont check this? I know they should, but 99 times out of 100 they dont. Why not?
Im sure we all know how BLOODY ANNOYING those kinds of headlights can be, so please make sure yours are adjusted properly! If you dont know how to do it, dont do it! It is a legal requirement for your car to be roadworthy that the headlights must be aligned properly, so if yours are out get them fixed, and if you dont know if they are or not, have someone drive your car past you so you can see for yourself.

I saw a panel beater checking the alignment of an XE Spak years ago, he had a box on an adjustable pod (not a tripod, four wheels to support it).

He worked out how high or low the lights were aiming with this device. Should every cop car carry this contraption?

I know how annoying they can be, but how can headlight alignments really be regulated!!!???? Come on, now!

Headlights aimed too high **** me off something shocking too. glaring in my rearview mirror :( It's as bad as someone leaving thier highbeam on.

The cops could just pull them over and tell them, like a warning - no need for a ticket.

Had a landcruiser behind me tonight and the mongrel left his highbeam on...problem was I was coming into canberra so I couldn't get away without getting cught at the next lights....... I was so tempted to let him pass and then hit him with my highbeam..

On a similar vein (aka inconsiderate ****ers) just south of nimmitabel as I appraoched a line of 4 cars behind a slow moving semi, I spotted a silver act plated wrx pull off the road on the left, and gun it to overtake the semi on the gravel..... I was so hoping he'd lose it and end up in a ditch...

what makes it worse, I ended up catching and passing him (without going over 110, except when overtaking) stopped at cooma to pick up a free pizza (won it in a phone comp friday) and still caught and passed him before canberra...
he risks a fine, not to mention stupidty, and then travels under the speed limit....

When we do road worthy checks at work 9 out of 10 cars need there head light aimed and every time we do a service we check and re aim head lights for some reason they just seem to go out of wack
