Smile AU 3 Tune Spark Plugs

Hi, (Hope this is correct forum)
Question?
What Km's does everyone change Iridium Spark Plugs in 6cyl Forte Std Petrol.

Also what are the best plugs? has been suggested that NGK IGR5C13 are the correct & best, (At @ $20.00 + ea. one would hope so)

Iridium plugs last longer, but don't appear to work any better. Just use the non-iridium and change them once a year. At $4 each it's a bargain! Or you can buy Denso Iridiums from a Toyota dealer. They are supposed to be cheaper. You could ring them and see.

DENSO PLUGS – PURCHASE FROM TOYOTA DEALERS

I6
IRIDIUM PLUGS
AU S1 (LPG) IW16 (0.8mm gap)
AU S1 (PETROL) IW16 (1.3mm gap)
AU S2 (LPG & PETROL) IW16 (1.3mm gap)

V8 (All AU’s)
NORMAL PT16EPRL13 (1.3mm gap)
IRIDIUM IT16 (1.3mm gap)
IRIDIUM TOUGH VT16 (1.3mm gap)

Cheers,

GK

These are the following prices I got quoted for iridiums for an AU S1:

Ford-21.50ea
Toyota-18.50ea

so they are not that much different in price.
You will probably be better off using standard NGK ones at $3 each and changing them more often. If they were a pain to change thats when iridiums would be benificial but they take like 5 mins to change on an AU.

What they said ^^^^^.

Iridiums should get 50,000km use at least, but then standard copper cores are good for at least 20,000km, and are 85% cheaper.

My AU 2 Service Manual States
Iridium (long life) spark plugs Part #VW16R-A13
Replace every 150000km

There are also the Autolite 985 which are compatible & claimed to make
4 RWKW more power by JMM
IIRC they cost $8 each
I have tried them & noticed no power loss or gain
I put the Denso iridiums back in so as not to forfeit my Warranty but will try the 985 again soon

Hope this helps
Cheers
