Default Nokia Phone Help

I have a Nokia 7250 was working fine for the last 14 months since buying this Mobile phone new.
A couple hours ago i pulled the phone out of my pocket it had swithced itself off,
When i went to turn it on all it says is ''CONTACT SERVICE'' then turns off.
This is not a pre paid phone and it's not locked to any network, if you have any idea's let me know.
thx.

Ive not long come back to a Nokia after a god-awful Sony Ericcson (dont ever buy one of these) but I remember on one of my Nokias I had a while back something similar did happen. I just pulled the battery out, check the SIM and cleaned it a bit (just blew the dust off), put it all back together and it worked fine.

Failing that, I guess you should take its advice and contact your service provider.

It's not a sim card error unfortunately.
When it displays contact service the software has died.
The phone will need to be re-flashed with software.
Take it to your nearest nokia care centre.
Pretty sure they carry (only) a 12 month defect warranty so you'll probably have to pay about $70 to have it fixed.

Yea, I've done the opposite, I definately dont think people should not buy one of these, jsut because you had one bad one does not mean they are all bad phones, its not like Nokia phones never have problems(hence this thread).

my sister has the same phone and it was sent back to nokia 3 times becuase of it dropping out, switching off, and other issues. so i would head down to the nearest nokia centre and get some warranty work done on it (if it is still under warranty).

Yeah thats true, regardless of brand there will always be crpapy phones aorund, but my SE ended up being handed back after about 8 weeks, i was just fed up with it and found it very difficult to use.

Ive had a 3310,3315,2100 and now a 3120 (all reasonably cheap but still do what i want them to) and theyve all been great phones. I really like the 3120 too.

No more SE for me thats for sure.

I got a SE s700i too, had it for about a month. Great phone, I couldn't stop playing with the thing for the first week! Previous phone was a Nokia 6230, that was a good phone too, but the screen was just too damn small.

Mark... I also have a 7250 (i) I've dropped it, I've drowned it, I've even tossed it! been a great phone, only ever had it fixed once (new speaker due to a blob of welding spatter going in the hole) The place that I use for repairs is MK Company in Elizabeth St in the city (near, I think Ray Drumonds golf shop) They fix while you wait and are great value.

Yeah, your phone needs a "ECU Reflash" using the "Nokia Edit".. LOL.. It happened to a mate with the same phone as yours Mark, reflashed, and it's (was) all good. His got a SE s700i now.

On the Nokia vs SE, I have had Nokia's and now have a SE k508i. The latest SE's are very good, and SE seem to be making a comeback and eating into Nokia's sales. When I first got into mobiles it was Motorola (x2), then SE (x2), then Nokia (x4) and now SE. This seems to be the trend I've noticed with a lot of people.

Default service reboot

After checking and cleaning the sim card contacts and battery you can try the factory reboot. (an extra pairof hands is helpful)

With the phone turned off hold green/answer key, * key, 3 key then turn the phone on, after message release. ( turn phone off the back on as normal)
