and what people do to get banned

Referrals means the number of people you have introduced to the site. There is a section in the registration process which allows you to nominate the member who told you of the site.

As to what people do to get banned, I don't think a list of that length is within the bounds of technical possibily at this stage of internet protocol development. Suffice to say that breaches of site terms and conditions are likely to win that particular award.

That would depend on what you define as excrement.

There are certain things which are not tolerated whatsoever such as abusive or threatening posts or PM's, spamming or other such anti-social endevours.

As to post quality, it's very much in the eye of the beholder and these sorts of things are handled with warnings before a ban is placed.
