I used to wonder if I could get a job there, but then they went through that big dot com bust and I gave up on it. Not sure what they are like for J2EE jobs (I'm more dev management than a programmer now though.)
IT industry here is BOOMING....they are screaming for just about everyone and anything, its why I am here, and with the Salary's been thrown around, MY god, I cant imagine why anyone would say no....not to point out too much...but 6 figure salary's as a starting base in USD!! plus up to (well for me) 45% bonus a year with 25% of that almost guaranteed! You compare that to home and take into account the cost of living and everything else, you can live either like Kings/Queens over here, or bank a serious amout of money to bring home in x years...We are somewhere in between that one lol.

To be honest mate I am unsure, but there is no visas now for trades as such until about 2009, with the IT there is still 10000 visas available, as there is a E3 visa for IT people only (IT and accountants I think)

Oh and Burgers at the Fast food joints are called Sandwiches? WTF is with that...LOL

Best burgers here are In and Out, its been here since the 50's and you have three choices...Burger, Cheese burger or a double cheese burger, they make it as you order it, and you basically watch your fries get made FRESH, they peel the spuds put them thru a manual cutter and frie them....and the taste is um...OMG OMG OMG.....Best I have had from a fast food place EVER....its all fresh the promise the meat has NEVER been frozen, and its all fresh real produce on the burgers, full slices of tomato and also full slices of onion if you want.
I'd be concerned about American food as their industry is embracing gene modified food without knowing what the long term consequences are. They say it is saf but so then did the scientists about DDT!

in-n-out looks pretty good. My memories from travel over there a long time ago where of all you can eat places. Too much food layed on. Have any of the fast food chains starting going with healthier options like here???

Yeah for sure many of them have gone for healthier options, However the portions are still just as big and its the soft drink that comes with even the healthier meals thats killing the kids, I mean you can get nachos, hot dogs and that much crap at the cinemas here.

um Year 9 Education, a couple of years doing not a lot, then sort of decided I wanted to work in the IT frield, Picked a field and took it from there, didnt stay in one spot all that long, worked my way up so to speak, did a heap of courses thru the companies and the like, that I was allowed to, spoke to heaps in the area I specalise in, listened and learnt heaps from peers... Now I have the equivalent of a Bachelors degree in information systems managment. I work with a product called SAP. I wouldnt say I was a smart person, But I know how to build a system as instructed/guided to suit some of the biggest companies around. I have good communication skills, I know when to ask a question and only ask it once, and I have a good understanding of how, when and why things should work and or "drop" into place.

In a nut shell SAP works in many ways by switching the way in which information is handled, used, calculated and reported. I am the switch master in many ways.

Haha doesnt suprise me if there are fat asses everywhere if they eat like that! A whole chicken + all the other side dishes!! Geesh! Well it sounds like your settling in and have moved into a nice area with lots of facilities. Great to hear the updates. Keep them coming!! With pics too

House etc looks good, and I can appreciate you'd enjoy the security of the gated community etc... Still, that street looks a bit too Arlington Road (slash Stepford Wives) for me...

Good luck - Huge decision to make, but it looks like you came out on top.

JAKE!!!!!!!!! ELWOOD!!!!!!!!

My boss is american. He always says that in many industries, it is far more easier to make money in America than in Australia. Especically in the legal profession (which we work in)

It has always interested me to hear about work abroad, thank you for posting this thread mate

Jake: Bring me four fried chickens and a Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: You want chicken wings or chicken legs?
Jake: Four fried chickens and a Coke.
Elwood: And some dry white toast please.
Mrs. Murphy: Ya'all want anything to drink with that?
Elwood: No ma'am.
Jake: A Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: Be right back.
