Hi all
I am looking at purchasing An NC II fairlane for my daily trip to maitland (180k trip). I cant seem to find out too much about these cars so would you be able to tell me Things to look out for when inspecting these cars so i get a good one first time, What sort of fuel economy they get when maintained correctly, and any problems that they may have? Thanks Regards Blake |

My 5L would get between 11 & 14/100kms for h/way cruising. Great cars for cruising with plenty of room. Just check the electrics, power windows, mirrors etc. Being older now they start to play up, that and the v8 auto were the only probs i ever had.

Self levelling suspension tends to leak, but most NCs now have had the shocks replaced with regular types anyway.

Self Levelling Suspension
Headgasket Warped Brake Rotors Make sure Cruise Control and Remote locking works pretty much standard E-series stuff. Check for nasty scrapes underneath as they are a long car and otherwise make sure electrics are pretty tip top.

V8's have no head gasket problems but timing cover can corrode and leak coolant but otherwise very reliable. My V8 NC gets better fuel economy that my inline 6 NB - due to sequential Fuel injection V banked injection. Get a V8 if you can more reliable and better economy.
