Default Jg41sl

Hi hoping someone can help me
Looking at buying a ute and was hoping someone could give me any information about it, the letters JG41SL then other numbers is stamped over left side shockie & also the comp plate it also has a small tag facing the front of the car over the radiator support. I have been told that this is a rallypack & came from the factory with its present running gear in it - 351 ,9inch diff & auto. Is this correct? Did it come out with the Gt/Gs dash & Wheel,T-bar & Velour intereior? Are these a rare vehicle? Any idea on the present value? It appears to have very little rust.
Thanks

Welcome to the Forums. JG means the Ford Broadmeadows factory, 41 is the model designation which is Falcon 500 utility, and SL is the year and month of production, which would be Sept 1976. In the Technical Resources section of the Forums there are lists of all the different codes. The engine code for a 351 will be K, and B for t-bar auto. The diff would be a 9" for a factory 351. You will also be able to tell the original paint & interior colours from the id tag. The small metal tag you mention does ring a bell regarding the rally pack but the only definitive way to verify it is by contacting Ford with the VIN - they have the full build spec. A ute in that spec would be pretty rare but in unrestored condition not terribly valuable, a few thousand perhaps but it is hard to say. You could have a look in the Classic Falcons section of the Forums where there will be a few threads discussing prices paid for cars purchased. Also look long and hard for rust or signs of bodgy repairs, XA-XC Falcons rust spectacularly.

Sounds like you may have found a better example of an XB? ....... GS options included the GT style dash, GT style steering wheel and you could certainly have T Bar auto, a choice of rims, options of GT bonnet with or without bonnet clips, GT/ GS (GS was generally silver) grille with driving lights. If it was a factory 351, then it had the 15 cu weight option with springs and ride height.

would like to see and read more on it, particularly as I have an XA version ;)

Are they worth much and are they rare ........ well they are difficult to come by, plenty of mock ups out there, but not enough of the genuine factory items.

There is an XA 351 GS optioned ute in one of the last Unique Cars magazines, fully original and stock .... $50k plus?
