i have a right angle triangle 6 x 6.2 x 8.8.
whats the rule for working it out??

What are you trying to work out?

thats what i thought it might be but wasnt sure. i thought pythag was usually used if you were missing the length of the hypotenuese

what do you want to work out?
angles
sine = opposite/hypotenuse
cosine = ajacent/hypotenuse
tangent = opposite/ajacent

if you want to work the angles out from lengths you use the inverse sine/cosine/tangent buttons on the calculator, usually sin-1, cos-1 or tan-1 on the calculator

Could you calculate it like a rectangle/square and divide by 2. Length*width then divide by two? Two equal right angle triangles placed on each other would be a square or rectangle depending on triangle shape? Do you know what I mean?

I did YR12 in 2004 I don't remember all the rules or anything strange like that but the logic makes sense, glad to help. Trigonometry was my favourite maths section though, sad as that may sound.

B - Base
H - Height

yeah, he said he had a right angled triangle.
for non right angled triangle he would be using the sine area rule

area = 1/2 a x b sin c

where c is the angle between the 2 sides a and b
a and b are both lengths.

The correct rule as mentioned already is BASE X HEIGHT divided by 2.

It works for ANY and ALL triangles, as long as the height measurement is at right angles to the base (but the triangle does not have to be a right angled triangle)

If BP 98 cost 169.9c/L and I own a mondern V8 with a 68L tank,

A) How much will it cost to fill from empty?
B) How many banks will knock me back for a loan to fill said tank?

Q2.) If one of my kindeys is worth $20,000 on the black market;

A) How many tanks of fuel will in buy?
B) Will K-Rudd's Butler manage to throw a 'Casey' style party at the PM's house

and the formula is 1/2 base x PERPENDICULAR height.
