Default Fuel up 10c overnight?

Just wondering if theres any reason why fuel has gone up 10c overnight?
i paid 95.9 cpl yesterday and today every station has it at 104.9.

Total bullsh!t, there is no reason for it to go up so much so quickly!

Anyone else notice this in their town?

Discount cycle should have seen it coming up to around 1.04 in Vic, not the 1.17 it went to.

Greed, pure and simple. Catching the motorists on their way home from holiday.

I notice Mobil near me had to retreat 3 cpl in 40 minutes yesterday when they went from 97 to 1.17......and back down to 1.13 40 minutes later.

Strange world.

I've always found that Mobil are usually the first to put it up and always put it up ridiculously high then back down quickly closely followed by Shell.

Mobil are the worst for it.

Our fuel (BP) didn't go up at all last night, but then again I can't remember what price it was either, pretty sure it wasn't quite $1 but then could be wrong :

Weren't they on about the fact fuel was going up on the news yesterday?

Still $1.17 is a whole lot better than $1.60 so I'm not complaining.

Weekly price cycle you get an average jump of between 10-15c from the low point to the high. It will now slowly discount over the coming days to reach its lowest point (next Wednesday/Thursday)

I used to fill up on Thursday nights (which was pay day like most people) However this was the highest point in the week for petrol prices. By ensuring I only filled up on Tuesday nights I always got my petrol in the low point saving an average of 12c/l every week.

Using the weekly cycle you can also estimate the price for the next 7 day petrol prices. Once at the high point the price slowly discounts to the low point. If there isn't any major discount (1-2c only) you know the price is going to jump another 10c/L for the week after.

On Monday at a Mobile servo in suburban Canberra, ULP was $0.89/L and 98RON was $1.02/L (no docket discounts). Yesterday at the same servo, ULP was $1.12/L and 98Ron was $1.22/L (no docket discounts).

A jump of $0.23 for ULP and $0.20 for 98RON which is just plain wrong.

Sure glad I put a full tank of 98RON in the Territory on Monday.

Corzza that oil price is for delivery in 2 months time. still has me beat how service stations can justify having one or two deliveries a week yet change their prices everyday.

The theives who runs the BP at Thornton have had fuel at $1.15 all week. Most of the other servo's in Newy were around the $1 mark until Thursday, when it went to $1.13.
Surprising since the Aussie dollar had a bit of rally this week and oil dropped back to $35.
I can't see the government doing much either. Higher prices = more tax revenue per litre.

Many Servo's down here in Geelong went from 98 to 1.15 overnight.

It's not profiteering though !!!

here is a strange one for you - local servo when the price of fuel is under $1 p/l they "run out" of BP ultimate - like every time. Na they aren't profiteering are they. TO clarify I doubt highly it is the service station it is the petrol company that is starving them of supply or telling them to say they "are out and can't get any".
