I thought there was no time limit for a car to be unregistered in SA?

Could be misinformed by motor reg ( not first time) but i asked on Thursday and was told i would not have to go to regency, even though i am changing the engine, as long as the engine capacity is not changed or no modifications such as turbo or supercharging are fitted.

I told them my falcon would be off the road for two years. All have to do is take the form for change of engine number and i can reregister.
