the good points of that are:
a) higher spec, i.e. titanium - for those that demand more luxury b) wagon will have VERY unique appeal in XR5 trim. c) wagon will appeal to fleets if the price is right, as the ecological warrior. d) it will be available as a manual! personally, im ****ed they only mentioned the petrol engine earlier in the year.... i probably would probably not have a 3 month old pajero in the driveway, but a mondeo diesel wagon on order, and an 5 year old pajero.... grrrrrrrrr oh well, cant reverse that decision now! Apstar, i noticed a comma, the torque figure relates to the 2.3 petrol, they didnt quote a torque figure for the diesel, as their keyboard would not type that high of a number |

Any idea on pricing? I am looking at a Mazda 6 wagon currently, mainly because it was more powerful than the petrol. I was under the impression that the Mondeo wagon was only going to be available with the 2.3 petrol, but as Marty mentioned the XR5 will hold a unique appeal.
Edit: Just looking on the Ford website and it mentions the new Mondeo wagon, but ONLY mentions a Zetec variant. Last edited by naddis01; 21-06-2009 at 07:52 PM. |

So the wagon will be called Titanium and the XR5 version (not called the XR5) will not have the performance of the hatch? Am I reading that right?

The way I read the article is that there will be 3 wagon trims. They are also bringing in another model called titanium that will be an XR5 in trim without the 2.5, it will have the 2.3.

So the Titanium wagon is basically an XR5 with either a diesel or lesser petrol motor.
What's the difference in trim from the standard TDCi/Zetec? I am interested in the wagon (I was looking at the 407 Touring), but I don't want the keyless entry after reading the drama on here about it. It sounds as though it is just cosmetic and maybe with the upgraded HMI. They have the keyless entry as a two hundred pound option and the standard foldy keys standard on the Tit XSport (http://www.ford.co.uk/Hidden/SidebyS...=1204919783740. But it is hard to match up which model is closest to the one we will be getting. Looks like no iPod integration yet either - the Falcons all have this now, feel a little let down by that. Have to keep an eye on the Ford website. I know there is only a little bit of difference between the hatch and wagon in term of storage, but the lip of the hatch is becoming a pain (at least the boss doesn't drag the pram across the bumper), and I want to be able to get a cargo barrier for extra safety. Am looking forward to seeing one in the flesh though.

Far too many options for a European inport. Keep it simple and just keep to two variants.
I hope they have a sat nav option however! |

Expanded MONDEO range..does this mean the end of the FALCON in 2011 ? Bring in more Mondeo models, people get used to the MONDEO and drop the FALCON in 2011 ???
I hope not..

Expanded Mondeo range to tackle the Mazda6, Camry, etc
There will always be a place for the Falcon. Personally Im excited by the expansion of the Mondeo range, more firepower for Ford. |

Thanks Phoonfan, that go auto article was a little misleading.
At least its cleared up.... from a dealers point of view, are you getting many people asking about mondeo wagons? |

Looks like me wanting a diesel wagon has no option then in the near future. Ghia Territory in diesel will be too pricey for me. Looks like I'm stuck with the hatch then even though the above release said the Titanium would come out in a wagon. Phoonfan, can you give an idea of the spec level of the Titanium (diesel) hatch? Be interested to know what the step up from my TDCi would get me.

Don't worry about how much it cost because unless I get a good trade in it's not on, so resale value of my TDCi will determine if I will trade up or not and it's MHO Ford will not be pulling in too many new customers given the competition Mondeo has to compete with......

Sunroof std is great - I love mine. That's normally $2K, so it's interesting that it's being 'included' as part of the spec. Don't think it would be included, as we'll still get charged for it. No iPod integration as yet either. I'd be thinking it would have to be between TDCi with all options ($44ish) and XR5 price ($48ish), probably around $46K? Although that's the RRP, and we know it's up for negotiation. Here's my thoughts on the UK spec: * 17" 15-spoke machined alloy wheel - mine has 17" already (I think!) * Silver painted upper and lower grilles, lower grille with chrome surround - bit different * Chrome finish on upper doorline - I wouldn't notice this except for finger prints * Blue glass - mine's clear, this is on the XR5 * Ford Convers+ cluster with colour screen - not on mine, some good extra services available on this (XR5 Drivers, is it good/useful?) * Electrically-operated and heated door mirrors with puddle lamps - handy, mine are electric at the moment, but missing the puddle lamps * Auto-dimming rear-view mirror - handy * Sculpted front seats - more sporty than mine, and mine are pretty comfy * Front passenger seat manual lumbar adjustment - got it * B-pillar vents for rear-seat passengers - excellent, can get a bit hot back there * Front and rear carpet mats - the dealers won't throw these in, they make too much from them * Brushed finished front door opening scuff plates - not on mine * Leather-wrapped handbrake - mine rubber and prone to scratches and marks * ‘Titanium’ finish interior trim - i think this is the piano black instead of fake brushed aluminum that's in mine * Map reading lights front and rear - no rears in mine * Front footwell lights - I think I've got these * Front interior ambient lighting - is this any good (XR5 drivers)?
