Time over Distance

can anyone confirm whether or not the following are Time over Distance - facts, not my mate sped inbetween the cameras and didn't get done

Geelong/werribee/ring road

eastlink/citylink

etc.

I have always wondered particulary on the citylink and eastlink, do they detect your speed as well ?

It has been a while since the ringroad cameras were installed, but nothing has been mentioned regarding if the time over distance is 'activated' - if you like.

ring road and geelong to werribee is NOT time over distance...
i've driven them 100 times in the last 100 days.... and i'd lay a $1million bet that i'd have been over on a time/distance setup...

to my knowledge, Citylink and Eastlink are capable of doing time/distance fines but they DO NOT do it....

I could be wrong... but i've got NO fines to prove it!

Hume Highway, Craigieburn definitely does Time over Distance.

eastlink - there are only 3 sets of cameras - 1/under dandy bypass bridge (maybe greens rd) 2/ under wellington rd bridge 3/ tunnels at ringwood. none are for distance/time

THE ONLY Distance/Time Cams in Victoria are on the Hume Highway about 4 sets Starting from Craigieburn and ending about 24k before Seymour.

For what its worth, NSW development on this subject (2009).

Under this legislation update, NSW *could* use existing red light camera installs to also determine point to point detection, IF technically feasible and the particular site device is so approved.

Mainly however, it deals with recording of evidence technology and its admissibility for court cases; as evidence of the alleged offence! Open the Pdf and see the math behind the legislation:-)

Overview of Bill
The objects of this Bill are as follows:

(a) to amend the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999 (the Principal Act):
(i) to enable evidence of the average speed of certain heavy vehicles
between detection points to be used to establish that speeding offences
involving such vehicles have been committed, and

(ii) to provide for the approval of devices for use in obtaining information
to calculate the average speeds of such vehicles between detection
points and for the use of such information as evidence in proceedings
for speeding offences, and

(iii) to provide for an inspection period for approved digital red light camera
devices that is consistent with other kinds of approved digital camera
devices used to detect traffic offences, and

(iv) to enable a device to be approved for use in detecting more than one kind of traffic offence,

(b) to make consequential amendments to certain other Acts and statutory rules.
