Do the drag across the screen when there is no water on there or ?

yeah if its them dragging because of lack of water I get that every now and then, but then so does the wife with her Festiva windscreen wipers.

My fix, RainX ;)

most likely just a build up of crap and fall out etc that doesnt really come off without some good ol elbow grease,

might sound like a funny fix... but get some car wax and wax your window ! hehehehe thats what i have done before on fiesta instead of buying rainx. worked wonders. now my wipers are little turbocharged nuggets

Yeah mine does the same, even with new windscreen wipers that are meant to be noise free... i think the blades these days are just crap really.

My only suggestion is buying the slightly more expensive silicone wiper blades, and as Todd suggested, keep the windscreen Rain-Xed.

Hope it cures for you...

Rain X stopped the shudder on mine.

I like the look of the new focus 05 wipers single piece very low to windscreen, going to ask parts next service to see if they fit.
