I don't see a thread here everyday about "The Godfather" aka "Zombie" E28 either. Sure there have been pics on here before, and many other sites im on.

And, in a way, this style is new(ish), this isn't a junkyard dog Rat rod, made from a basterd collection of parts and some way fitted together. No, this was the reverse. What started as a very neat 5-series has progressed into something altogether unique, many would have preferred to see him restore it to its former glory.

The build is more about the story, just like Eric Banners coupe has a story...

It's nice to see something outside the box when it comes to mods.
Not something you'd see from a Euro ... and as mention ... not such a "modern" rat-rod style either.

Whether you like it not, there is a few things to remember.

1. The owner seems to have done all the mods himself, with the help of a few friends along the way. (but no cheque book build).

2. The owner has built it to his desire. He hasn't followed any trends, just done it for himself. I admire that.

3. He started with a vision, and completed it. How many projects has the membership of this forum started and never completed. (I'll put my hand up for a couple ).

4. He obviously had fun doing it. He has fine tuned it to his liking over a period of time, and then has reflected on the build by documenting it. Also, isn't a project all about having fun?

Like it or not, we should all be so lucky to get the enjoyment and fun that this car guy has had. Awesome win for a build thread, and the car's not bad either. Its not usually my thing, but this car has a certain something about it. I love it. I usually hate that much camber, and tyres that are too skinny for the rims, but this car pulls it off. I hate the panel treatment, but here it works. I think it is a collection of everything together.

It may be the build photos and the story that they told. I don't know. But for me this car is awesome, and the journey is one I will need to read about.

Edit: I love the trailer too. That looks awesome.

You'll find this modern rat rodding started in Europe with old Golfs etc., but that's beside the point.

As for the Bimmer... + 1,000,000 to all the praise and rave comments both here and @ BimmerForums! Absolutely LOVE it!
